There’s no doubt that the announcement of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is the best news that the series has received in quite a long time. The franchise’s momentum came to a halt after the debut of Dead Rising 4.

Fortunately, with the upcoming remaster, there’s a chance for the series to make a triumphant return. Considering how well the franchise’s earlier instalments did, it’s quite a valid strategy for a comeback. However, many fans fear that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster might not be the remake everyone had been hoping for as it could be too “woke”.

Capcom’s first taste of controversy for Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster came when it was noticed that the title would feature in-game purchases, which wasn’t present in the original games.

However, Capcom found itself in deeper trouble when it was revealed that the remaster would axe a controversial feature and no longer reward gamers for “erotic” images of women. Still, gamers accepted the changes and are hyped to see the title’s release.

However, a small number of fans believe that Capcom should leave all elements of the original title intact. They’re pretty disappointed to see that Capcom is trying to appease the so-called “modern crowd” and removing features that could prove to be offensive to certain players in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

Although it’s sad to see that Capcom is getting rid of some features, it’s crucial to keep in mind that the gaming landscape is quite different from what it was back in the day.

The inclusion of “woke changes” in the Dead Rising Remaster could comprise the creative vision of game developers, but there’s a strong reason behind such an inclusion.

Modern games tend to reflect the diverse world today’s gamers live in. Addressing issues, which could be cultural misrepresentation and stereotypes, helps avoid harmful biases and promotes a more respectful portrayal of in-game characters.

We’ve seen how games that incorporate diverse perspectives and deal with social issues can easily engage players more deeply and bring in even new audiences who would’ve never played the game.

Let’s hope Capcom finds a way to balance the inclusion of new changes while not letting the old players feel left out.
