The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all set to step into a new era thanks to the return of Robert Downey Jr. who will now be playing the fan-favorite villain, Doctor Doom, in the superhero world. While we are quite excited to see how Kevin Feige will pull it off, there are a couple of questions at the back of our minds that are still bothering us, especially regarding Jonathan Majors’ Kang and Eternals.

Both storylines ended on cliffhangers, giving fans hope that they would return to the MCU to give themselves the conclusions they deserve. However, with Jonathan Majors’ firing and the disappointing updates about Eternals’ future, we are not sure if Kevin Feige even plans on addressing these plots in the future.

Cliffhangers are pretty common in the superhero genre in order to keep viewers invested in the story. As a fan, it’s actually quite satisfying to see a plot coming to a worthy conclusion after waiting for years. However, what do you do but sulk when there is no hope for a cliffhanger to be resolved? Fans of Jonathan Majors’ Kang and Eternals know this feeling better than anyone.

In Eternals, Kit Harington’s Whitman is about to reveal a family secret to his love, Gemma Chan’s Sersi, when she is abducted by Arishem and taken into space. Along with her, the Prime Celestial also takes Phastos and Kingo.

Since the Eternals stopped the Emergence of Celestial Tiamut, Arishem is quite displeased with their actions and takes it into his hands to judge humanity based on their memories. Disappearing into space, Arishem promises that he will return with his judgment.

There are several other moments in the film which have left the viewers on a cliffhanger including the introduction of Harry Styles’ Eros.

As for Kang, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ended after giving fans a look at the Council of Kangs including Rama-Tut and Scarlet Centurion. This meant that there were powerful and dangerous Kang variants at bay which led us to believe that something phenomenal would be happening in the MCU where all these variants would come into action.

Loki season 2 dealt with one of the variants of Kang – Victor Timely – but not the others. While the TVA was seen keeping an eye out for the other variants, it didn’t seem like they were overly concerned about the events of Quantumania. As for the Council of Kangs, it wouldn’t be the first time Marvel has abandoned an idea to pursue something bigger and better.

Following Majors’ legal troubles where he was found guilty of two domestic violence charges, the actor was let go by Marvel Studios despite the huge fan following that he had built for himself with Loki and Quantumania.

After his removal from the superhero universe, there was a lot of confusion about the fate of Kang in the MCU, especially since the next film was subtitled The Kang Dynasty. We now know that he’ll be replaced by Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom and the fifth Avengers will be subtitled Doomsday.

As for Eternals, Kevin Feige recently opened up about the possibility of a sequel to Inverse stating,

There are no immediate plans for Eternals 2. There are, and I think you’ve seen maybe in a trailer we’ve released recently, an acknowledgment of some of those events. Certain giant things came out of the ocean.

Of course, fans are pretty upset with how things seem to have ended for these two storylines. Take a look at what some of them are saying:

As of now, we can only hope that Eternals gets a proper ending like it deserves and that the dangerous variants of Kang are used in the MCU in one way or another!
