Embracer Group reassured fans that the development pipeline for Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 was strong and that the delay was necessary to ensure the game met the high standards set by the developers.

It acknowledged the excitement surrounding the game but emphasized that the development team needed more time to polish the game and deliver the experience that fans have been eagerly waiting for, for more than six years now.

The developer shared that while the team had aimed to launch the game by the end of 2024, they fell short of that goal. However, also promised that the extra time would be used to fine-tune the game, taking care of bugs and glitches, making it a worthy successor to the original which is now more or less of a cult classic.

A new trailer for the game will premiere at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 20, followed by a 20-minute gameplay video the next day. Moreover, attendees at Gamescom in Germany will have the chance to experience the game for themselves.

Ultimately, the extra time will allow the studio and the developers to polish the game even more, and deliver an experience that will be far better as compared to being released too early and then fixed later on, as is the current industry trend.

What to Expect from Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

The game is shaping up to be an ambitious project that aims to further build on the success of its predecessor. The original game, released in 2018, was praised for its realistic portrayal of medieval life, its intricate story, and its complex combat system.

The game’s attention to detail and commitment to historical accuracy and gameplay mechanics set it apart from other RPGs at the time, and it quickly gained a dedicated following thanks to all of these immersive features.

The sequel looks to expand and further build on this foundation in almost every way. The game is set to feature a world and map twice the size of the original, offering players even more chances for exploration and adventure.

The game will introduce new weapons, including crossbows, and a more complex reputation system that will influence how NPCs interact with the player. The story is also expected to be even more epic in scale, with more branching paths and choices that will affect the game’s outcome, visibly.

One of the most exciting aspects of the game as previously shared by the development team, is the promise of a more dynamic world. The game will feature a Red Dead-like wanted and bounty system, where players’ actions will have consequences that affect the world.
