The world grieved when Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye fought to decide who dies in Avengers: Endgame. Sacrificing her life, Natasha Romanoff died and Clint Barton returned with the Soul Stone.
After the events of Avengers: Endgame, a solo Black Widow film was released but it received average ratings. With fans missing her severely, an idea was posted on X that talked about a way of bringing back Natasha Romanoff, one last time.
“Just Like Budapest All Over Again!”
If you know this dialogue then congrats, you are a true fan of the MCU. Although it is eventually revealed what happened in Budapest between Clint Barton and Natasha Romanoff, the operation was clear enough to show the bonding between the two.
In Avengers: Endgame, the duo goes to Vormir and fights to the death (literally) on who gets to die for the Soul Stone. With Black Widow out of the picture, fans think that there’s still one way to bring her back.
Taking to X, a fan talked about a potential movie idea where Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton team up in the past for an operation. The consequences of that operation are felt in the future as Kate Bishop and Yelena Belova have to deal with the aftermath.
Taking to their social media accounts on X, fans seemed to agree with the idea.
Although it might be a great idea for Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner to reunite, it seems that the Jojo Rabbit actress might be done with superhero movies for a while.
Taking a break from the particular genre, Johansson had to step away from superhero movies back in 2013. However, it seems that this break could likely happen again.
When Scarlett Johansson Took a Break From Superhero Movies
Johansson was often quoted saying that she didn’t feel like a respected actress. Because of her roles and the type of roles that she was offered, Johansson recalled that she felt like a s*x symbol.
However, it all changed when the actress decided to take a break from mainstream movies and started reading indie scripts. One of the scripts caught Scarlett Johansson’s eyes and that ended up being Jonathan Glazer’s 2013 film Under The Skin.
Portraying the role of an alien, the character was quite tough for ScarJo since she had to literally not show any emotion. However, the actress revealed in an interview with The Guardian that people actually saw her as a respectable actress.
Because it brings up so many questions. One of the journalists that I was talking to today, we ended up talking about the relativity of time. Whereas, normally, it’s like ‘So, what do you find sexy in a guy?’ Or, ‘If you had a superpower, what would it be?’
Although the film was considered a failure, Under The Skin went on to become a cult classic and put the name of A24 Studios on the map.
Under The Skin received a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDB and a whopping 84% on Rotten Tomatoes. The iconic 2013 film is available to watch on Kanopy as of 16th August 2024 in the U.S.
