Although Usopp was the highlight of the Dressrosa Arc earning him the title of ‘God Usopp’, Sniper King still ranks far low among all Straw Hat members in terms of combat.
It’s been a while since we last saw our beloved Sniper King in action and overpowering his opponents in combat. Back in the Dressrosa Arc, Usopp had multiple shining moments, leaving fans amazed by Sogeking’s Observation Haki.
With Zeus the Thundercloud finally becoming Nami’s ally, fans want to witness Usopp receiving another power update. While some fans believe Oda has planned some tragic fate for our beloved character, recent One Piece theory suggests Sogeking surpasses the likes of Shanks and Yasopp (Usopp’s father) after Elbaf.
One Piece Theories Hint at Usopp Gaining a Formidable Power Boost in Elbaf
After finally escaping Egghead Island, Luffy’s crew’s next destination will be the Elbaf Island, a kingdom in the New World. Elbaf is considered to be the strongest country in the world, as it’s inhabited by giants. With the recent manga chapter 1122, Joyboy’s existence is no longer a mystery and Elbaf will feature more myths about the forgotten Void Century.
Interestingly, there’s a One Piece theory about Usopp receiving an immense power update and becoming the Two Devil Fruits wielder after Blackbeard. The theory suggests Usopp will encounter Kuma’s devil fruit, Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, which is a Paramecia-type, and become a Devil Fruit user.
Secondly, it also hints at the Sniper King surpassing every Straw Hat member except the iconic trio (Luffy, Sanji, and Zoro) by wielding another devil fruit’s power. The theory captivates readers by suggesting Orochi’s devil fruit merging with Usopp’s slingshot and receiving an immense power boost. In One Piece, Oda has highlighted that weapons carry their own free will; therefore, Usopp’s slingshot merging with a powerful devil fruit isn’t unlikely.
Usopp’s Weapon Could Rival the Power of Ancient Weapons
As mentioned earlier, weapons developing their own free will is a common story in the One Piece universe. Interestingly, this theory suggests Usopp’s weapon receives such immense powers that it may even rival all Ancient Weapons combined.
Since the beginning, Oda has foreshadowed Usopp in Luffy’s shadows. Luffy became the true god of Liberation in Wano while Sogeking earned the false title of God in the Dressrosa arc. Not to forget, both Luffy and Usopp’s first bounty was showcased to be 30 million and then increased to 500 million, respectively.
Inspired by the ancient Indian god Hanuman, fans speculate that Luffy might consume the Mother Flame and unlock the full potential of the Sun God’s power. However, a new theory suggests Usopp takes a similar path and ends up with Sun God’s abilities. Eiichiro Oda has foreshadowed tons of resemblance between Luffy and Usopp. Many fans linked the references to Sniper King’s tragic fate, but the theory claims the total opposite.

As Luffy is inspired by Hanuman, the theory claims Usopp’s inspiration to be the Greek God of the Sun, Apollo. Apollo is a significant deity in Greek mythology, revered as the god of the sun, agriculture, archery, music, poetry, prophecy, and healing. From archery to agriculture, Usopp’s resemblance to the Greek deity is really surprising.
The theory hints at Usopp possessing a small fragment of the Mother Flame. With that small fragment, Usopp could merge his Slingshot with Mother Flame, enhancing his snipping ability to the top level. Since Apollo wielded a golden bow as his weapon, Usopp’s Kabuto merging with Mother Flame seems plausible.
Undoubtedly, Usopp is the most advanced Staw Hat member when it comes to Observation Haki. Therefore, receiving a power update linked with his Observation Haki seems more logical than anything else.
Another theory hints at Usopp’s Observation Haki, reaching such a notable feat that he could even surpass Yassop and Van Augur. When One Piece nears its conclusion, Usopp could gain the ability to manipulate the Observation Haki of others. Thanks to this power, Usopp could manipulate his opponents to perceive false future information during the battle.
This ability would perfectly align with Usopp’s character, who relies on trickery, lies, and manipulation in battle. Hence, Sniper King might earn the title “Manipulator of Observation Haki,” much like how Shanks is renowned as the “Killer of Observation Haki.”
