Square Enix decided to divide the original story into three parts allowing the story to breathe and be fleshed out compared to the original version. The remake follows the same story with a few creative changes in between, and it is interesting to see how these events affect the party.

Fans Will Experience Different Stages of Grief in the Last Part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Trilogy

Not even Pattinson is probably prepared to witness Aerith's fate in high definition when Rebirth arrives.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to release in March 2024.

The gaming community was surprised to see Square Enix greenlight this beloved classic and partnered with Sony Interactive Entertainment to bring the remake trilogy exclusively to the PlayStation platform. The developers had a vision to remake this story with the utmost care and to deliver this story through a different pair of lenses to elevate the gaming experience.

Nobuo Uematsu served as the composer of the first two chapters of the Remake trilogy and made a gentleman’s agreement to score the final chapter of the remake trilogy of Final Fantasy 7. Uematsu’s immediate response proves that production has started and is going smoothly.

The game developers have already fleshed out the conclusion and it will take the party through different stages of grief after the traumatic death of Aerith Gainsborough.

Players of the original version were left shaken after seeing Aerith die. The gaming community anticipated a massive loss in Rebirth with a few creative changes and to see the events carried out identically except for Cloud’s brief distortion of reality.

In the climax, Cloud deflected Sephiroth’s blade but in reality, he delivered a killing blow. The party rallied towards their fallen comrade and fought to avenge her. The remake trilogy introduces a multiverse concept with alternate realities and different versions of characters crossing paths as Cloud encounters more than one Aerith and even aids him in the final battle.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 Could Address What Happened to Aerith Gainsborough

Red XIII could still sense Aerith’s presence after dying in Cloud’s arms while the rest were grieving. Tifa mourned for her friend and noticed Cloud’s lack of grief since he could still see her in his way without any explanation. Perhaps Aerith became one with the planet and chose to reveal herself to certain people, or it is an alternate version that haunts him.

The remake trilogy is not a traditional remake. Square Enix can add new elements to spice up the story like bringing back Zack Fair into an alternate timeline where he is alive and well and was pulled out of his timeline to help Cloud fight Sephiroth and confuse casual players even more.

The gaming community has a few fan theories after Aerith’s death and most lean toward Cloud’s declining mental health. Perhaps she is a figment of his imagination that he uses as a crutch after his failure while the rest of the party is ready to let her rest in peace.

The final chapter will likely tie all loose ends and explain Aerith’s death better than the original version. This is an opportunity to learn from past mistakes.
