Known for portraying the role of Vanessa in the Deadpool film series, Morena Baccarin has shared that a difficult scene she filmed for Deadpool 2 was ultimately cut from the final version of the movie. The actress, who played a significant role as Wade Wilson’s love interest in the first film, experienced a noticeable decrease in screen time with the 2018 sequel.
While her reduced presence in the film has sparked conversation, Baccarin also disclosed that some of her scenes didn’t make it into the final cut, including a challenging water tank sequence that even led to an eye injury.

Morena Baccarin’s reduced screen time in the 2018 sequel to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans, who had been eager to see more of the on-screen romantic duo.
While much of her work didn’t make it into the final cut, Baccarin actually filmed some challenging sequences for the movie. She had filmed an underwater stunt for the film, as she revealed during an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast.
The actress described it as “the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do at work,” while reflecting on the stressful experience. She recalled the traumatic filming experience, saying,
They sunk the entire apartment in a tank underwater and we had to be weighed down so that I could sit in a chair — It had, like, an escape hatch, that you had to swim to find but it was also really dark, you know, and it was panic-inducing. It was awful.
She also revealed that both she and Ryan Reynolds got severe eye infections as a result of the shoot, which lasted around 14 hours. “We couldn’t open our eyes for like two days,” she revealed before adding, “It felt like I had razors in my eyeballs.”
However, despite all the intense efforts and the injuries, the sequence never made it to the final cut. “It wasn’t even in the film, made me so mad,” Baccarin said, noting that all she saw of the sequence was a single screenshot.

Others also argued in her favor, criticizing the studio for making the disappointing cut. However, despite her horrible filming experience for the sequel, Baccarin returned for a brief appearance alongside Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson in the third installment, Deadpool & Wolverine.
