Gamescom 2024 gave fans the first glimpse of Neo Berlin 2087, an RPG that offers a mixture of first-person and third-person action. The game has quickly turned a lot of heads due to its futuristic style gameplay and similarities to Cyberpunk 2077.
The game has also drawn comparisons to Deus Ex due to its similar themes. However, there is also a concern from the fans that the game might go through a similar fate as Cyberpunk did, with a highly anticipated launch marred by technical issues and unfulfilled promises.

Other than the fact that CyberPunk was developed by CD Projekt Red and Neo Berlin 2087 is being made by Elysium Game Studio, there are several other reasons why showing early skepticism is not the right move.
Putting a negative connotation on the game way before its release will only dampen the excitement, discourage potential players, and unfairly judge the game before it has had a chance to prove itself. Instead, Neo Berlin 2087 could redefine the genre and could be a great game from the get-go.
It goes without saying many fans are wary of the game as it feels very similar to what Cyberpunk had to go through early. Placing Lofty expectations on a game before it is released rarely works well, and if Neo Berlin 2087 isn’t careful with early marketing, it could fall into the same traps.
A few netizens are already abandoning the game, even going as far as to label it as a “disappointment” for anyone who buys it. However, this rush to judgment is premature, as the game is still in development, and much of what Neo Berlin 2087 has to offer remains to be seen.
Sometimes It Takes Time To Achieve Greatness
One thing Neo Berlin 2087 has to be careful of is managing expectations and ensuring that the game delivers on the promises made during its marketing. Avoiding the trajectory of Cyberpunk would be crucial for the game because if it fails to live upto expectations, criticism will surely come.
Cyberpunk was full of bugs, and the game felt incomplete at the time of its release. It took around four years for CD Projekt Red to fix the game, restore its reputation, and deliver the experience that fans originally hoped for.
The narrative ambitions of Neo Berlin 2087 could either be its greatest strength or its Achilles’ heel. Deus Ex is an excellent example of a futuristic-styled game done right, even though it was released almost 24 years ago. Regardless. it would be interesting to see how the game fairs out on release versus how it does in the long run.
