Replacing Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, the world was shocked when RDJ announced his return to the MCU. However, the question remains how will the MCU simply erase Kang from its history books?

How Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom Will Replace Kang The Conqueror

As soon as Downey Jr. made the announcement at the San Diego Comic-Con 2024 that he would be Doctor Doom in the MCU, there were countless theories about how Robert Downey Jr. would slowly take over the MCU.

From a random reference in Loki to the Illuminati massacre in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the theories are endless. But very few people have talked about how they will eventually remove Kang from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A fan took to Reddit to talk about one such wild theory about how it was actually Kang who saw the introduction of Doctor Doom in the multiverse. In season 1 of Loki, Majors had an iconic monologue.

Portraying the role of He Who Remains, the character talks about the multiversal war that his variants are fighting, and according to He Who Remains, he has “seen how it ends”.

Well, this bold theory asks the question what if He Who Remains saw the aftermath of Doctor Doom ruling over the MCU on Battleworld? What if Kang created the Sacred Timeline because he knew that Doctor Doom would soon be upon their multiverse with an incursion and wanted to protect it?

It Doesn’t Stop Here

The theory further delves into the concept of consequences as the fan suggests that Doctor Doom was the repercussion of Kang and his variants messing with the universe’s timeline.

The theory goes one step further and takes a dive into the Fantastic Four and how they are not based on Earth-616 right now (our planet). The theory claims that the team of Fantastic Four will travel to Earth-616 at the end of their film since their universe collapses.

For that, one might need a multiversal engine core which maybe Reed Richards or Doctor Doom might have been experimenting with. Although there are some speculations and rumors, the theory does seem pretty interesting.

With Robert Downey Jr. portraying the role of Doctor Doom in the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday is set for a release date of 1 May 2026 in theaters across the world.
