Till now, fans of the adventure series believed that Luffy’s Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Nika, was the only Devil Fruit that was shrouded in mystery. However, that might not be the case anymore because Brook, one of the crew members of the Straw Hat Pirates, might soon have his awakening moment, which will put the Gear 5 moment to shame.

In a recent podcast following Oda-Sensei’s work and mysteries, a fan came up with a mind-boggling theory of how The Humming Swordsman might possess the power of the Grim Reaper, making it the mother of all fan theories!

Eiichiro Oda Might Give Brook The Most Internet-Breaking Devil Fruit Awakening

With 27 years in the making, Eiichiro Oda’s magnum opus features over 1100 episodes and chapters. The lore of the Shonen series is vast and has managed to keep the fans engaged over the years.

With tons of lovable characters, some stand out from the rest. While Luffy, Roronoa Zoro, and Black Leg Sanji are some of the most fan-favorite characters in the show, Brook has become an adored character since he made his debut in the Thriller Bark Arc.

Recently, in That One Piece Talk podcast, a fan shared their theory of how the Soul King might soon have a “Zoan awakening.” They explained that during the Wano Country Arc after Roronoa Zoro won his battle against King, he saw the Grim Reaper, which interestingly looked like Brook, and if that’s the real “Grim Reaper, then Brook might have a mythical Zoan type.”

The fan further added, “Oda knows how to draw skulls,” giving relevant examples of Onigashima and other instances from the show. However, this skull “specifically looked like Brook.” They believed if the Pirate Hunter had hallucinated, that would have made the entire theory pointless.

However, if that is not the case, then “he’s got the Grim Reaper Fruit” and how he can do impressive stuff like freezing things and splitting his soul apart. But what makes this theory so supportive is that the character once served as a “passageway to the dead.”

Though it can be a coincidence, his shadow led “Zoro, The King of Hell, talk to his ancestor,” and being the 2nd swordsman in the crew would make him connected with the Vice-Captain.

This awakening would not only give the musician a greater role than being a comic relief, but also give him a much bigger responsibility, power up, and overall “drip increase.” This theory has got the fandom talking, as fans dropped their thoughts in the comments on the post.

One Piece Fans React To Brook Having a Mythical Zoan Fruit Type

The fan theory of Brook being a Grim Reaper has got the fans talking because one of the hosts stated, “another devil fruit being hidden with the name isn’t an issue. Another Devil Fruit with the hidden name on Luffy’s crew is my issue.”

Though the theory has piqued the interest of Brook fans, everyone is not too happy with it. They commented,

@jay_everest commented, “What if it’s not hidden what if it’s unknown? Like this fruit only appears once a Millenium so know one knows about it. Revive revive doesn’t exactly explain the ice powers or the ability to project his soul. But the Death Death fruit might.”

@drakedowell commented, “I’m about the theory. Who cares if Luffy keeps all the hidden devil fruits? It Let’s him one up black beard, who is hunting them.”

@kitten.smalls.pi commented, “Yo don’t sleep on brooks importance when they get to LaughTale and the importance of the song Binks Sake for whatever is going to be there. Music is gonna be hella important to the final situation I’m speculating. He’ll have some sort of power spike or point of importance to the story to be able to fully unlock the secrets of LaughTale.”

@billie_rogen commented, “Tbf it’d be fine and almost make sense because of him being alive for so long that people could have forgotten the fruit’s name”

@dark._angel_zero commented, “blud has yap yap fruit”

@carmona002 commented, “”All depends on one thing.” Nah, it would depend on multiple things! But the biggest problem with this theory is the activation. Brooks’ fruit allowed him to revive before that he didn’t have any power (he only lost his ability to swim). Honestly, I also have a theory about Brook’s fruit: In English, the name became “revive-revive fruit,” but in Japanese is “Yomi Yomi no mi.” Yomi can be “revive” or “underworld”; so what if instead of the fruit of “revibe” brooks fruit is actually the “underworld” fruit?! And the need for the user to die before activation is because no living being can enter the underworld!”

Nevertheless, the idea of giving more screen time to the swordsman adds to the richness of the story, adding another star to the beauty of One Piece.

One Piece is currently available to watch on Crunchyroll.
