Team Asobi apparently did not hold back and wanted to give other iconic video game franchises their time to shine in this project to see how far the game industry has come. There is no telling what other cameos are being held back.

Team Asobi is going all out with this game after Astro’s Playroom was universally praised and well-received by the community. This was despite the game being a tech demo that comes packed in on every PlayStation 5.

Trustworthy names in the game industry like Jeff Grub were convinced about the high possibility of Astro Bot winning the Game of the Year title after playing 20 minutes. It says a lot that winning Game of the Year, let alone being nominated along with other great video games is praise of the highest order.

Sony has a diverse portfolio of first-party games, and this is the perfect opportunity to show camaraderie by featuring other video game franchises outside the company’s ecosystem.

In the official reveal trailer, players saw other references and easter eggs from first-party PlayStation franchises like Astro donning the iconic beard and Leviathan Axe of Kratos from the God of War games and giving the character a cosmetic item that is directly inspired by the Bloodborne game to honor the fans who are still begging for a remaster.

Third-party franchises like Resident Evil were also spotted in the leaked footage. However, that did not stop Sony to go through extreme lengths and reaching out to Activision and Microsoft for the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro franchises to be represented in the game.

Both franchises were made by Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games respectively. Other Naughty Dog franchises like The Last of Us and Uncharted will be featured and fans applaud Team Asobi’s attention to detail.

The childlike tone and family-friendly theme of Team Asobi’s project are perfect for gaining the interest of other age demographics. However, some players are still on the fence because of the price tag.

Modern triple-A video games cost a fortune to develop and it is only reasonable for the studio to try and make money back. Hopefully, the price will not affect or cloud a player’s judgment and the game will justify their money’s worth.

This game will serve as a celebration for the gaming community. The number of iconic cameos will connect the dots and bring everyone together. There is no telling who else will show up. Fans are eager to see how each character will be represented.
