The Black Myth Wukong Pagoda area in Chapter 3 is a place with locked prison doors marked by purple circles. If you’re one of the millions playing this game, you might be wondering how to unlock these cells. The rewards inside, including a powerful transformation spell, are too good to miss.

You need to hunt down and defeat a secret boss named Captain Lotus Vision. He’s hiding about halfway through the level, so here’s how to proceed. Start from the beginning of the level and work your way to the Upper Pagoda Shrine.

The path is fairly straightforward, so just go ahead and jump up when you can, exploring as you would. When you reach the Shrine, don’t head straight ahead like you normally would.

Instead of continuing forward, scout the area until you spot a roof that you can jump onto using some ledges. This path will lead you directly to Captain Lotus Vision’s boss area.

Captain Lotus Vision isn’t an easy opponent. He’ll bombard you with beams and summon enemies to overwhelm you. Timing your dodges and jumps is crucial if you want to survive.

Once you defeat Captain Lotus Vision, you can absorb his spirit, which automatically unlocks the prison cells with the purple in the Pagoda. But you’re not done yet.

It’s time to backtrack and claim your rewards! One of the cells contains an NPC next to a sword. Interacting with the sword will grant you the Ashen Slumber Transformation spell, which will come in handy in future Black Myth Wukong battles.

Some of them are happening real soon. When you talk to the NPC, he’ll tell you about other Captains in the Pagoda that you need to defeat and absorb their spirits.

Captain Wise-Voice is located in the Mani Wheel area. Captain Void-Illusion is in Longevity Road. Lastly, Captain Kalpa-Wave is in the New Thunderclap Temple, which you can access from the Longevity Road Shrine.

Once you’ve defeated all these captains and absorbed their spirits, return to the prisoner NPC to complete the quest. You’ll receive an item used to craft the Chu-Bai Spear and unlock the Corrupted Captains achievement.

The other cells will also be unlocked, offering even more treasures to drown in. That’s why we recommend you go the extra mile to take down the other Captains.
