One of the most exciting features is the return of the 4-player co-op mode, allowing players to team up with friends to survive the night. This mode has been a staple of the series and is expected to be a major draw for players who enjoy playing with their friends.

The developer originally planned to release it as DLC for Dying Light 2: Stay Human, but the project grew in scope, leading to its development as a standalone game. As a gesture of appreciation to fans, anyone who purchased the Ultimate Edition of Dying Light 2 will receive this standalone expansion at no extra cost.

The Beast also brings back Kyle Crane, who fans believed had met his end in the acclaimed expansion, The Following. The new game picks up 13 years later, with Crane having survived years of captivity and experiments that have turned him into a human-zombie hybrid.

This transformation gives him unique abilities, making him an even more formidable opponent against the zombies. The story will follow Crane as he seeks revenge on those who captured him and tries to uncover a larger conspiracy at play.

The studio has also implied that this won’t be the last DLC for Dying Light 2, with more expansion packs focusing on Aidan Caldwell still a possibility.

A Return to Familiar Mechanics

Crane will navigate through a world overrun by the undead via the series’ signature parkour. The game is set in Castor Woods, a once-bustling tourist spot that has now become a battleground filled with warring factions, survivors, and zombies.

The developers look to bring back the same thrilling combination of parkour and combat that made the original Dying Light a fan favorite.

This expansion looks to be a fresh take on the zombie survival genre, but it’s not leaving behind what made the original game so popular. The game will also bring back vehicles, a feature that was popular in The Following expansion.

Players will be able to use a 4×4 to outmanoeuvre and kill zombies, and the game will also feature plenty of new types of creatures and locations.

With no official release date yet beyond a wide time period of 2025, fans are eagerly awaiting more news, and more will be revealed later this year.
