Similar to 2004, with the star couple calling off their engagement and Reynolds sharing the screen with Snipes in Blade: Trinity, history appears to repeat itself in an eerie fashion with the Gigli stars once again going their separate ways along with the Blade star’s return alongside Reynolds in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Separated Again, Two Decades After Their Previous Split
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, one of the most popular Hollywood couples, first captured the public’s attention in the early 2000s. However, the intense media scrutiny eventually took a toll on their relationship, leading them to call off their engagement and part ways in 2004.
Then fate brought them together again, and the two rekindled their romance years later in 2021 and it didn’t take them long to figure out their priorities. The couple tied the knot in a small ceremony in July 2022. Yet, history seems to have repeated itself.
Amid rumors that the couple had been living apart for over a month, Lopez has reportedly filed for divorce from Affleck. As per People, Lopez herself filed for divorce and it is unclear whether a prenuptial agreement is in place.
While the exact reason for their separation remains undisclosed, insiders have revealed that the couple has been living separately, with Lopez not having seen Ben for weeks.
Another source told People that Lopez is heartbroken, having tried her best to make the relationship work. “She tried really hard to make things work, and is heartbroken,” the source said, adding that her kids remain her top priority as the couple move forward separately.
Wesley Snipes and Ryan Reynolds Reunite for Another Collaboration
Not just the celebrity romance, the collaboration between Ryan Reynolds and Wesley Snipes has been in the works for nearly two decades, ever since their last appearance together in the 2004 film Blade: Trinity.
The film starred Snipes in the titular role alongside the Deadpool star, who took on the role of his sidekick, Hannibal King. Unlike Deadpool & Wolverine, Blade: Trinity was a critical disappointment, facing backlash for its predictable plot, direction, and performances.
Adding to the film’s troubled legacy were persistent rumors of a feud between Reynolds and Snipes. These rumors were even referenced in the Marvel universe when Blade told Deadpool, “I don’t like you,” during their first encounter in the Void.
Snipes later revealed that the rumored feud was all in good fun. “You know, this is a joke. We’ve been playing this for like two decades,” he said before adding, “We’ve actually liked each other the whole time!”
Snipes also shared that it was Reynolds who reached out to him with the idea of reprising his role as Blade. While he was initially surprised given Marvel’s plans to introduce Mahershala Ali as the new Blade, he expressed excitement about reuniting on screen with his Blade: Trinity co-star.
