Ben Affleck has suffered at the hands of the media and paparazzi since time immemorial. In fact, his relationship with Jennifer Lopez came to an end, the first time around, due to constantly being under the media’s radar and being judged on his every move. Matt Damon Cannot Fathom What Ben Affleck Had to Go Through
Matt Damon’s latest film, The Instigators, has recently been released where he and fellow robber Cobby (Casey Affleck) are thrown into a heist. While promoting his film on the Radio Times Podcast, Damon opened up about the constant scrutiny faced by celebrities thanks to the media.
However, a happily married man since 2005, Damon was never the paparazzi’s focus as his life has never really been scandalous and scandal is what sells. Ben Affleck, though, fell on the opposite end of the spectrum.
During the interview, Damon stated that he couldn’t bring himself to imagine what his lifelong friend had to go through.
I’ve been really lucky in that way … especially when I look at Casey’s brother, Ben. I can’t imagine living under that kind of scrutiny. And it’s been like that for 25 years and we’ve had parallel careers in a lot of ways and so I’m fortunate to have been kind of excused from that part of [it]. That magazine culture that was so huge you know … 25 years ago kind of ignored me. Right, like a guy who’s married, it’s so boring.
While we love a happy love story, we cannot ignore the fact that the downs of a celebrity’s life are more publicized than the ups, especially when it comes to their love lives.
Damon stated that as long as celebs stayed away from “s*x and scandal,” the media would just let them be, which is how he managed to avoid the excessive attention.
What would sell those things were scandal and s*x and all that stuff … and as long as you didn’t do any of that stuff it wasn’t really worth their time to wait to take your picture and so I ended up kind of getting left alone.
It looks like Affleck got the short end of the stick as compared to Damon when it comes to being in the media’s spotlight.
Is Bennifer 2.0 Finished for Good?
Bennifer was once the power couple of Hollywood until things went a bit awry. They called off their wedding in 2003 and went their separate ways a few months later. However, fate and Cupid had different plans for the Gigli actors.
Years later, the ex-lovers would reunite and finally tie the knot, leaving Bennifer fans absolutely elated. Unfortunately, it looks like things are ending between the two once again, as seen in multiple reports.
A recent report states that Jennifer Lopez has finally filed for divorce from the man she once called a “sweetheart.” According to court documents obtained by CBS Los Angeles, Lopez filed the paperwork at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, on the day of their second marriage anniversary, August 20.
According to a source close to the singer, “[Lopez] was done waiting and the date she did it speaks a ton.” Supporting her decision, they added that this move gave Lopez “control of the process.” (Via PEOPLE)
Another source told PEOPLE that while she is “heartbroken,” she tried her best to make things work. Right now, the children are her top priority. It looks like another chapter has come to a close in Bennifer’s book.
