While there are several great female characters in Naruto, Konan particularly stands out for her final fight in the series. In that fight, we got to see the best of Konan: her planning, her resolve, the foresight, and her caring side that always looked out for her loved ones. Despite the tragedy of growing up in a war-struck country, she managed to get stronger with friends she held dear.
Konan was one of the best female characters. Despite a shorter screen time than many other characters, she gave us many memorable moments. So here’s the list of top 5 Konan moments in Naruto.
5. Konan vs. The Aburame Family
Starting off with her brief fight during the pain assault, there’s a moment when Konan comes across the Aburame family while looking for Naruto. Konan uses paper clones and sets her surroundings ablaze with the help of explosives, preventing her opponents from moving freely. Before setting her clones on fire, she had soaked her real body with water to protect herself from the self-inflicted fire.
Shino’s dad praises her for using her own weakness to her advantage. Even though we never see the end of that fight, the fight gives up a glimpse of her battle prowess. In every fight, she plans ahead and is always ahead of her opponent.
4. The Moments of Kindness
Konan had an extremely rough childhood. Along with Yahiko, she was facing life-threatening situations by stealing food to survive during the war. Even the dire circumstances didn’t stop her from exhibiting kindness time and again. When the three kids met the Legendary Sannin for the first time, there was tension on both ends. Nagato, Yahiko, and Tsunade were alarmed whereas Orochimaru was ready to kill the kids.
It was Konan who diffused the situation by offering an origami flower to Tsunade as a token of thanks. Even though Tsunade was scared, Jiraiya understood the situation and quickly took charge. Konan was also the one who saved Nagato and his dog from dying, by bringing them to Yahiko.
3. The Flowers Of Hope
After Nagato used his final technique and passed away, Konan presented a bouquet of flowers to Naruto, entrusting her dreams and hopes to Naruto. She told him that she had nothing left after losing both Nagato and Yahiko, yet she continued to fulfill two important responsibilities, even though she wasn’t obliged to do. She chose to protect the Rinnegan from Obito (Madara at that point in the story) and continued to watch over the Rain Village.
While a major reason behind her decision was her friendship with Nagato, she also knew what would happen if Tobi had the Rinnegan. It was her foresight that delayed the inevitable.
2. Konan Nearly Defeats Tobi
After the commencement of the Fourth Great Ninja War, Tobi finally reached the Rain Village with the goal of finding Nagato’s location. Konan tackled him as soon as he arrived and put up a great fight. The fight shows Konan’s true potential as she had multiple plans in place to fight Tobi when he arrives. Tobi was one of the strongest characters in Naruto. Nobody was aware of his true powers.
Without the complete knowledge of what she was up against, she managed to nearly kill him. The only way Tobi could find out Nagato’s location was by putting Konan under a genjutsu, which cost him an eye. At the end of the fight, he lost an eye and an arm. Landing some lethal blows on him, she didn’t give up until the very end, giving us a great fight to look back on.
1. The Final Promise
Konan’s resolve wasn’t the only memorable aspect about her fight with Tobi. In her last moments, Konan made sure that she fulfills her promise with Yahiko. When they were kids, Yahiko had shared the desire to return to the orphan shelter, once they’ve fulfilled their dream of bringing peace to the world.
As she was drifting into to the unknown, Konan sent one of her paper sheets to the orphan shelter. Reuniting with her friends once again by fulfilling one last promise with them. It was not only one of her best moments but also the most heartbreaking one.
With that, we have reached the end of the list. As we go through all the different stages of her life, Konan had to see all her friends die before her eyes. She suffered a lot, but in the end, she returned home with that small piece of paper.
