Fans have been predicting the ending of One Piece for a long time, and there have been multiple theories that try to find out how Eiichiro Oda is going to bring an end to one of the greatest stories of all time. While the fans predict the ending, the two things that Oda has hinted at about the ending are that it will involve one of the saddest moments of the story and that Blackbeard will be Luffy’s final rival.

Blackbeard’s final confrontation with Luffy will most likely be his biggest fight, and according to a One Piece theory, this fight will require a sacrifice from a Straw Hat crew member. This sacrifice will result in Luffy’s victory and will also mark the sad moment that Oda has talked about.

One Piece Theory Predicts The Death of a Straw Hat Member

According to a theory posted by @The.Animaze on YouTube, Luffy’s final battle with Blackbeard would require a lot of effort from the newly appointed Yonko and also a sacrifice from his crew member. This crew member who will most likely die during this battle is none other than Brook.

Oda has dropped multiple hints that Blackbeard is able to use more than one Devil Fruit power because the antagonist has three souls (most likely because of a Devil Fruit). Thus, in order to defeat him, Luffy needs to counter at least two of his souls, which would bring him to equal grounds. This is where Brook will come in.

The theory states that Brook’s Devil Fruit is yet to witness an awakening, and this awakening will most likely happen during the fight with Blackbeard. The awakening will allow Brook to control other souls with the manifestation of his own soul, and thus he would be able to remove Blackbeard’s other souls, giving Luffy a chance to defeat him.

However, this ability of Brook’s Devil Fruit awakening would most likely come at the cost of his own life. It would also mark the sad ending that Oda has been hinting about in One Piece for some time now.

What Would Brook’s Devil Fruit Awakening Look Like?

Brook has the power of Yomi Yomi no Mi, which is a paramecia-type Devil Fruit. This Devil Fruit allowed Brook’s soul to manifest itself even after his death, giving him a second chance at life. It also helps Brook to control his soul outside of the limitations of his body.

The fruit practically makes Brook immortal, as he cannot die by traditional methods. Plus, his physical body is just a skeleton that can be treated much more easily. Thus, the next step for Brook’s Devil Fruit during the awakening would be to allow his soul to enter other people’s bodies.

If Brook is able to do that, he will not only be able to control the physical bodies of his opponents but also draw out their souls, leaving them dead. Thus, it would be a great character development for Brook, and if Eiichiro Oda actually uses this narrative, he will most likely put him against Blackbeard to give Luffy an advantage.
