Helldivers 2 is a massive triumph for Sony Interactive Entertainment and the gaming community has nothing but praise for the live service game. Unfortunately, Sony likes to keep its first-party exclusives close to its chest and only went as far as to port these games on PC, but never on a rival platform.
On the other hand, Phil Spencer can’t help but share the rare few notable first-party titles of his respective platform and gets nothing in return from the competition. The rival player base has grown tired and hopes Sony will have a change of heart and return the favor.
Helldivers 2 Is Still on Top of the Wishlist of the Rival Community
The gaming community is always looking forward to new projects that first-party studios are developing under the leadership of Sony Interactive Entertainment. Each project is crafted with the utmost care and by the best of the best in the video game industry, and these first-party games single-handedly carry the PlayStation brand generation after generation.
Times are changing and the old ways are slowly being forgotten and former heads are open to change in the best way possible. Shawn Layden was pleased with Sony’s decision to share Helldivers 2 with the PC community and uses it as the prime example of positive exclusivity while keeping expensive triple-A games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from Insomniac Games is a mistake.

Xbox players felt betrayed after the recent announcement of a PS5 port of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It will be released a few months after the launch on the native console platform, Game Pass and PC. The rival player base expressed their enthusiasm for Sony to follow in the footsteps of Microsoft and share some of its high-quality exclusives to return the favor and establish a symbiotic relationship.
There is a low likelihood of this ever happening, given Sony’s strong focus on breaking new ground on the PC platform. The console war has been waging for the past few decades, and it seems like Spencer is ready to wave the white flag and shift his focus to something far more ambitious that involves abolishing the idea of tethering first-party games to one platform and exclusivity.
Sony Still Has the Edge Against the Competition With High-Quality Exclusives Like Marvel’s Spider-Man
The Xbox community is understandably upset after years of being mocked for the weak output of quality first-party titles, and the recent aggressive acquisition spree was thought of as a response to this argument. However, it didn’t pan out the way fans expected. Fans are convinced that Starfield is in danger of being ported sooner than expected.
Sony is proud of its strong lineup of games. Nothing is set in stone, and the company could reconsider its options later once it sees how this move could benefit the brand.
The gaming industry is not for the faint of heart, and the stakes are higher than ever. It is a race to the top of the mountain and the gaming community is on the edge of their seats.
Dominating the market is the ultimate goal. Each company must have a plan to reach the endgame.
