The gaming community’s memory is not to be trifled with, especially regarding Xbox and Microsoft’s future endeavors. Shreds of evidence are ready about Phil Spencer and his lackluster track record in keeping his promise regarding porting high-profile first-party exclusives to rival platforms, namely Sony Interactive Entertainment and the PlayStation 5.

This year’s Gamescom was a massive event that sent shivers to the spines of every major Xbox supporter and shattered their hearts after witnessing the confirmation of the inevitable PlayStation 5 port of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. To make matters worse, the game will be released a few months after on Xbox.

Spencer does not have a great history of keeping his word and it continues to upset the player base to see their head of the brand underdeliver not once but consistently. Some community members claim Spencer is a professional liar and believe he was causing more harm than good to the Xbox brand by giving false hope and breaking promises.

Spencer has been seated in the top spot for a decade and some fans suggest it is high time to have a change in leadership. Hopefully, a shift in leadership will happen sometime soon, and it involves Spencer willingly giving up his role as the head of Microsoft Gaming to avoid getting the situation out of hand.

Spencer may have done a few things that benefitted the company like acquiring Bethesda Game Studios and other major third-party game developers. However, it didn’t take long for to make a mistake by shutting a few studios down shortly after.

The Xbox brand needs a savior and not a grave digger. Spencer has been in power for a decade and managed to upset the player base rather than finding solutions to improve their experience.

The gaming community has struggled long enough and deserves better. It is time to make changes before the community abandons this platform.
