Tony Stark has a slew of armors in Marvel comics that have been translated in various capacities to several adaptations of the character. Be it Iron Man: Armoured Adventures, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, or Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there has always been a part of Tony’s armory that has failed to jump from one medium to another. However, with Robert Downey Jr. returning as Doctor Doom, Marvel Studios has a unique opportunity to adapt the rest of Tony’s armory, but as Doom’s collection of suits.
Doctor Doom is considered as one of the most terrifying scientists in the MCU, along with a character who has more than a fair share of magical knowledge. An unholy union of the most nefarious ideas that science and magic have to offer, Doctor Doom will afford the MCU an opportunity to possibly adapt a lot of enchanted and advanced armor from Tony Stark’s armory, for the MCU.
Tony Stark’s Mysterium Armour could double as Doom’s armor in the MCU
Tony Stark’s discovery of Mysterium allowed the character to craft an armor that was able to repel Adamantium, resist magic, and was even unbreakable for the likes of Captain Marvel. Doctor Strange, the Sorcerer Supreme himself, declared the material unalterable with magic. Not only that, but the material was also somehow able to bypass Spider-Man’s spider-sense, which made it a very versatile material in a world of superheroes with varying origins.
Mysterium was then crafted by Tony Stark into an armor which was one of the strongest in his armory. The Marvel Cinematic Universe could adapt this armor as the default armor for Doom, with a different look, of course. Along with it, the MCU’s Doom could take on other Iron Man armor for himself, such as Asgardian Armour, or Wakandan Armour. This could be a result of Doom picking off the Avengers one by one, sort of like souvenirs for every Avenger he has slain.
There are a slew of Iron Man armors that could make an appearance in Secret Wars
Given that Robert Downey Jr. has now returned to the MCU, it is completely possible that Secret Wars could feature a slew of Iron Man variants from a host of different timelines. Not only could there be Tony Starks from other timelines, but they could also feature different armors that the fans of Iron Man have not yet seen in the MCU.
Further, given that there is a big possibility that other Marvel Legacy characters will show up in the film, those played by MCU alums like Chris Evans, old characters like Captain America and Balck Widow could show up as new variants of their characters in Secret Wars, as a fun bit of fan service. The film is bound to have a scene that echoes the Avengers Assemble scene in Endgame, where these characters could appear.
