Tite Kubo’s Bleach has some great characters who carry the story on their shoulders. Apart from Ichigo Kurosaki and Rukia Kuchiki, there were Kisuke Urahara, Renji Abarai, Kenpachi Zaraki, Aizen Sosuke, etc., who equally contributed to the story. Even though all of them held everyone’s attention, there were a few characters who were quite annoying from the moment they appeared.

A question was asked on Reddit to state the most annoying characters in Bleach. While a few had different answers, most of them unanimously voted for Marechiyo Omaeda. Marechiyo Omaeda is the lieutenant of the Second Division in Soul Society. The fans were annoyed with everything about him. Even though they wanted his screen time to decrease, Tite Kubo did the opposite.

Bleach is one of the Big Three of anime and holds a major position in the anime and manga industry. While most of the characters bring joy to the Bleach lovers, Marechiyo Omaeda does the opposite. Omaeda is a tall and chubby character with a widow’s peak-shaped hair. His Zanpakuto is Gegetsuburi, which becomes a massive spiked ball attached to a chain in its Shikai form. Like him, his Zanpakuto has no special abilities.

The fans believe everything about the character is annoying. But the mangaka still went on increasing his screen time even though he had no real impact on the plot.

Since his first appearance, he was projected to be a coward and always ran away from foes stronger than him. Omaeda is unnecessarily loud, which often becomes annoying for the fans. His presence is mainly used for comic essence, but the character has failed in that category also. Apart from being annoying, Omaeda is also one of the weakest characters in Bleach. The only good thing about the character is that he is there when his captain needs him.

Marechiyo Omaeda first appeared during Rukia Kuchiki’s execution. After Ichigo Kurosaki saved her, the protagonist easily crushed Gegetsuburi and wounded Omaeda. Since then, the lieutenant has been a regular on Tite Kubo’s magnum opus. The mangaka is even included in Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War. But the problem is that he remains the same old Shinigami he was in the first 366 episodes.

Currently, the fans are eagerly waiting for Thousand Year Blood War part three, “The Conflict,” which will be released in October 2024. After being on a hiatus for a decade, the anime returned in October 2022. It fulfilled every expectation of the fans and has regained its status as an influential franchise. The current arc is a crucial one, yet somehow, Marechiyo Omaeda’s annoyingness has made it to the end.

Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War is currently available for streaming on Hulu.
