Star Wars Outlaws is right around the corner, and the gaming community is beyond excited to step into the criminal underworld of a galaxy far, far away. The game developers boasted a massive open world featuring different planets and biomes, which could explain the equally massive install size for modern consoles.
The gaming community is baffled by modern games with a massive open-world map. It is understandable for a game to download upon inserting the disc followed by a day one patch; however, being unable to play a fully paid game without the internet is a massive eyesore for players.
The Physical Disc of Star Wars Outlaws Is Practically Useless Without an Internet Connection
Massive Entertainment is on the home stretch to get this project up on store shelves for the gaming community to grab; however, physical media enthusiasts will not be pleased with what they might see on the screen. The game is expected to be massive, featuring detailed worlds filled with diverse activities that tie into the trophies and achievements of Star Wars Outlaws.
The game will be released in less than a week, and some players were fortunate to grab an early copy days before the release date. Unfortunately, after hours of waiting for the game to update, it is practically unplayable without an internet connection despite having the physical disc on hand, which is not ideal for those unwilling to transition to the digital age of gaming.
Some fans contemplated that the lacklustre combat and animations were not worth the gigabytes of storage. Perhaps the game will heavily rely on the day one patch to get it up and running in a playable state, which can be a hassle for those who pre-ordered the physical disc and are expecting a smooth launch after a few hours of downloading.
The gaming community has high hopes for Star Wars Outlaws, and it would have been nice if players could play the game regardless of whether their PlayStation 5 is connected to the internet. Perhaps the publisher intends to convince players to abandon physical media and transition to the digital age, where everything is much more convenient and faster.
It is time for the community to take a stand against this tomfoolery. Ubisoft might as well pack the physical case with an install code instead of a disc if this is what the future of gaming will be like.
Ubisoft Is Not Doing a Great Job Selling Physical Copies of Star Wars Outlaws
Ubisoft has a lot of pressure riding on this original Star Wars project; however, the developers managed to sneak in a game mechanic inspired by early Assassin’s Creed games that would make it extra challenging for players to cause mischief. Pickpocketing could be a tall order that requires all that storage space.
Physical media should be able to run a game without any drawbacks. The modern age is taking away years of tradition.
Perhaps it is time for players to let their voices be heard and for the game industry to notice. It is ironic to see how advanced technology sent players back to the stone age of gaming.
Players used to pop in a disc and play with no issue. Hopefully, it is not too late to go back.
