It’s Charmy Papittson, it’s fun to draw my wife in a manga. She coordinates the well-being of the team that draws almost every day in her living room.

The author has not based Charmy’s appearance on his wife but her traits and personality. So Charmy could be called a more crazy and powerful version of Tabata’s wife. The way he has described his wife and explained that she co-ordinates everything is heartwarming.

In the same interview, the author admitted that there is another character in Black Clover that is based on a real-life person. According to Tabata, none other than the protagonist, Asta, is based on himself. He further claimed that he wanted to create a rivalry between the two main characters, and that’s why he created them so differently.

Black Clover fans know that Charmy has one true love and that is food. She is a big eater, and her tiny height betrays how much she can actually eat. Often, she prioritizes food in the face of danger. Lord forbid anyone threatens to steal her meals because that is when her extremely scary powers reveal themselves.

This gives fans an idea that Yuki Tabata’s wife must be a huge foodie for Tabata to exaggerate it and create a glutton like Charmy. However, the character is not all about eating. She is a generous person who loves sharing her meals. Sometimes, she even feeds some characters so much that they are just a morsel away from death.

She is a relatively easygoing character with none of the rigid and cool attitude that most of the Magic Knights come with. Her silly antics also serve as comic relief from the extremely serious battles that are scattered all over the manga. Fans have deferred that Tabata’s wife must be a really cool person for her to inspire such an impressive character.

Black Clover is available to read on Viz Media and is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
