It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft that the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery that we have to give back to the company, because we get a level of support from the company that is just amazing in terms of what we’re able to go do.

Spencer strongly believes that this decision will make their Xbox games “as strong as possible,” adding that this is a strategy that works for Microsoft Gaming.

Fans on social media have been bashing Spencer for this decision. The Xbox community is finding it difficult to understand Spencer’s vision.

The comment sections of Spencer’s social media posts are filled with such messages as people have started calling him a PlayStation ally. As for the PlayStation community, they are glad that they will get the opportunity to try out Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is not the first game that will be released on PlayStation as Microsoft Gaming has also shared Pentiment, Grounded, Hi-Fi Rush, and Sea of Thieves with Sony and Nintendo in the past. Although the Xbox community opposed this idea, Spencer believes that it will benefit everyone.

Later in the interview at Gamescom, Spencer highlighted that the gaming industry is changing and players need to get used to such decisions. He made it clear that Microsoft Gaming’s goal is to make better games that more people can play,

The last thing I’ll say, as an industry right now, there’s a lot of pressure on the industry – Us as fans, as players of games, we just have to anticipate there’s going to be more change in how some of the traditional ways that games were built and distributed, that’s going to change.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is all set to be released for Windows and Xbox Series X/S on December 9, 2024, while the PlayStation 5 version is set to release in Spring 2025.
