Taylor Sheridan has undoubtedly changed the television genre with several of his well-acclaimed and intriguing projects. But the most commendable in this would be his Yellowstone series. The show centered around the fictional Dutton family was indeed a rollercoaster of emotions.

Further, Sheridan has fully immersed himself in expanding the Yellowstone universe, which some fans on the internet feel that he might be spreading himself too thin. And that he should go back to his Sicario days, which brought out a more cold-blooded and darker piece of writing he’s ever written.

Fans React to a Grueling Scene in Sicario Written by Taylor Sheridan

Before he jumped all into the world of Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan was an actor. He had created a steady workflow for himself in the business with recurring roles in shows like Veronica Mars and Sons of Anarchy. But while acting was something he enjoyed, it wasn’t challenging him enough creatively. So, Sheridan decided to transition as a screenwriter.

Further, just like his acting, he didn’t disappoint the viewers with his writing as well and wrote the grappling tale of Sicario. The movie directed by Denis Villeneuve featured a star ensemble with the likes of Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin. Interestingly, Sheridan wrote the screenplay of the movie in just four months, avoided development delays, and had the movie shot from his very first draft just four months later.

While his writing was highly impressive, the movie, on the other hand, did not disappoint either. It featured several cold-blooded and chilling scenes that people still talk about, even after nine years of its release. One such scene recently resurfaced on X and brought in several reactions from fans.

The scene in question happens during the climax of the crime thriller movie and features del Toro’s Alejandro sitting across from cartel leader Alarcon. In this sequence, he kills Alarcon’s entire family in front of his eyes and then the cartel leader as well. This showcased some of the darkest work that Sheridan had written that too during the initial period of his screenwriting career.

Now, he has shifted his entire focus towards expanding the Yellowstone universe, with several spin-offs lined up. But this gut-wrenching movie brought forth the amazing possibility of projects that might happen if Sheridan goes back to his Sicario days.

However, at the moment it seems highly unlikely given the plethora of projects he has gotten himself involved with.

What Do We Know About Taylor Sheridan’s Upcoming Yellowstone Projects?

Sheridan’s Yellowstone series, with its narrative surrounding family drama, has always kept the audience hooked to their seats since its premiere in 2018. Since then, the viewers have enjoyed watching the show, which featured the iconic Kevin Costner in the lead. However, Costner is no longer involved in the project due to certain behind-the-scenes drama.

But this also left a big question for the viewers on how his character will be portrayed in Part Two of the fifth and final season. With this, the fans are also eagerly anticipating other spin-offs that Sheridan might have up his sleeves, given the immense popularity that prequels 1883 and 1923 got from the viewers.

Other spin-offs reportedly in the works, although not confirmed, are 1944, 2024, and the last one, 6666 (based on a ranch in West Texas owned by Sheridan himself). Although the audience will need to wait for more details on these projects, it’s evident that Taylor Sheridan isn’t planning to wrap up the Yellowstone universe anytime soon.

You can watch Yellowstone on Peacock, Spectrum and Fubo TV.
