However, the potential of One Piece is not limited to a single story. Oda’s genius and creative inclusion of multiple plots over the course of almost 30 years have made it easy for the manga creator to come up with the idea of a new spin-off or sequel of One Piece. These plots have so much potential that they can keep the franchise going for another 30 years.

Recently, a popular One Piece fan account shared a post talking about eight different spin-offs that Oda can work on after One Piece ends. These spin-offs are based on the backstories and journeys of many fan-favorite characters like Monkey D. Garp, Gol D. Roger, Mihawk, Monkey D. Dragon, etc.

The Potential Spin-offs That Could Keep One Piece Going

With over 11 sagas, 50+ arcs, and 1100+ chapters, One Piece is one of the longest-running stories in history. Thus, it is understandable that over the course of thirty years, Oda has introduced multiple characters who had the potential to have a manga series of their own. And while there has been no confirmation about it, the One Piece mangaka can take them on as future projects.

One Piece fan account @pewpiece on X recently shared a tweet explaining the potential in the One Piece world and its characters.

The tweet also included posters of potential spin-offs of characters that have been a part of One Piece for the longest time. The characters included Rocks D. Xebec, Dracule Mihawk, Monkey D. Dragon, Sakazuki Akainu, and even Blackbeard.

The posters also included the mysteries and events of One Piece, which have intrigued fans. These events include the God Valley Incident, the War of the Void Century, the secret behind the Empty Throne, etc. All these narratives have the capability to compete with some of the biggest mangas in the community.

Eiichiro Oda’s Plans After One Piece Ends

Although fans would love to read about all these thrilling stories, it all depends on Eiichiro Oda and his plans after One Piece ends. The manga creator has been working on it since 1997 and he has hardly taken a break. Thus, there is a big chance that he could just hang up the sword and spend the rest of his life with his family.

However, the mangaka has also expressed his desire to work on different characters from the story. @sandman_AP shared a translation of Oda’s interview in 2018, where the mangaka is seen taking an interest in the idea of depicting the stories of Garp and the other marines.

Oda stated:

There remain some characters I want to go into detail. It would be interesting if I focus on Marines. I can come up with a magnificent story about Garp. I’d like to draw some relationship and talks between him and Akainu, Aokiji, Smoker, Hina, Coby who joined Marines one after another, Commun Cypher Pol and Roger.

The manga creator also expressed interest in writing the backstory of Dragon and the Revolutionary Army. He understands that the One Piece narrative has the potential for a lot of spin-offs and sequels, and he himself wants to work on them.

Thus, Oda will most likely announce his plans with One Piece and his future with the manga in the upcoming future. Till then, fans will just have to wait and enjoy the thrilling adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates, who are on their way to Elbaf right now.
