A viral YouTube video suggests, in an earlier version of the series, Doc Green the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) resolved to take his combat prowess to the next level by training in martial arts with the Iron Fist, aka Danny Rand. This team-up was quite unorthodox and made for a very unique dynamic since the Hulk was a brute force character while Iron Fist was more of a precision.

Although the current Hulk is more supernatural and cosmic, this particular arc gives fans a tease of what it could be like for the character. A smarter Hulk who could not only knock out his enemies, but also think his way through bouts of physical combat and use martial arts techniques, would definitely be quite a challenge. That being said, it’s still unclear whether this storyline will be touched upon in any future books, but even if it is, it opens up a new idea that could easily expand the Hulk’s storyline. Perhaps, it is high time that we see Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk flexing his muscles on the big screen and displaying splendid Martial Art skills.

This debate’s been fuelled more so after Hulk’s recent loss to She-Hulk, and due to this, the character has been deemed to be in a certain hole, which he cannot escape. Whether or not the Hulk will ever learn martial arts remains to be seen, but the fan reaction’s clear: The character of this man, kind of, requires change.
