In Thor: Love and Thunder, Jane and Thor reunite, but Jane’s time is tragically limited due to a stage four cancer diagnosis. While Mjolnir is initially thought to be her salvation, they soon discover it’s actually draining her life force.
Thor pleads with her to put down the hammer so they can make up for the lost time all these years. However, when Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, nearly finishes Thor off, Jane takes up the mantle of Thor to save him one final time. Ultimately costing her her life, but the end-credits scene reveals her enjoying a hero’s afterlife in Valhalla.
Thus judging by the tone of the fan trailer, fans are expecting the new installment to dive into much darker territory. Speculations are thus also swirling that Thor 5, which by the way, Marvel Studios has yet to officially announce, could embrace a much grimmer tone, and serve as a redemption arc for the character many fans believe has potential waiting to be explored still.
