Over the years, Call of Duty‘s classic Prestige system has evolved and now stands as one of the most defining aspects of every game. It was introduced all the way back in 2004’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The system would be featured in every entry since, with a bit of change here and there.

However, with the release of 2019’s Modern Warfare, the Prestige system was completely overhauled. Even though gamers despised the new changes, Activision brought them to Vanguard, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3. Thankfully, they’ve realized their mistakes and finally understand what fans of the franchise demand.

Black Ops 6 will return to the classic Prestige system formula, featuring 10 Prestige tiers that’ll be capped out at Level 55. Once a player manages to complete the tenth tier, they’ll enter a Prestige Mastery system that caps out at 1,000 levels.

The decision to switch to the traditional Prestige system is undoubtedly a perfect way for the new Black Ops game to lure in older fans of the franchise and bring an engaging progression system to the title. Treyarch’s move to return to the franchise’s roots is being appreciated by fans of the franchise.

What’s even better is the fact that Black Ops 6 will feature the classic Prestige system from day one of the launch. Recent titles in the shooter franchise have waited for ages to introduce the system with a post-launch update.

It’s great to see that Activision and Treyarch are finally listening to player concerns and bringing classic features that have been requested for years at this point. If the developers continue this momentum, Black Ops 6 will surely be one of the best games in the franchise.

Black Ops 6 Will Change How Players Unlock Attachments

In the last couple of years, fans of the shooter franchise have been frustrated with the unlock system for weapon attachments. Unlike the classic titles in the series, 2022’s Modern Warfare 2 brought a major change to how weapon attachments worked, forcing players to utilize various weapons to unlock attachments for other ones.

Previously, all players had to do was level up a weapon, and they would’ve instantly unlocked all of the attachments that came with it. The changes to this system caused an outcry in 2022 and have been a source of criticism since then.

During the recent COD Next event, Treyarch not only gave us a look at Black Ops 6‘s multiplayer but also revealed the new weapon attachment unlock system. In the upcoming title, players won’t have to use different weapons to get attachments.

Each weapon’s attachment, including stocks, grips, and ammunition, will be directly unlockable by leveling the weapon of your choice. The exception to this system would be weapon optics, which all weapons will universally share.
