Charlie Covell Was Over the Moon When Hugh Grant Agreed to Play Zeus in Kaos

Destiny works in mysterious ways, and in the case of Kaos, when Hugh Grant dropped out of the project, Jeff Goldblum was brought on board as the lead. And if the reviews are to be believed, the actor has done full justice to the role.

The actor, known for his iconic portrayals in projects like Jurassic Park and Independence Day, plays the role of Zeus – a god who’s at the peak of his reign until he finds a wrinkle on his forehead.

This small wrinkle makes him paranoid, and he’s almost certain that his downfall has begun. This fear of his sets off a series of events that could lead to the end of the world. The character, known for his selfish and arrogant qualities, is also unpopular among both gods and humans, leading them to retaliate against him to bring him down.

Interestingly, the original plan for the role was to cast Hugh Grant as the lead. The actor even agreed to it, much to the surprise of writer Charlie Covell. He added in an interview:

I believe I’m still in shock at the news that Hugh Grant has agreed to play Zeus – this was my dream. He’s leading a stupendous cast of actors and we’re extremely honored to have them all on board. I can’t wait for filming to begin.

The actor was quite popular due to his charming roles in movies like Love Actually and Bridget Jones’s Diary. Given this, even Covell was quite thrilled to have him in the project.

But the actor dropped out of the project after a while due to scheduling issues, and Goldblum took over the role. While Grant’s exit might have been disappointing at first, Jeff Goldblum’s performance quickly became the highlight of the show.
