Black Ops 6 beta has kicked off, giving players the first taste of the latest Call of Duty game. Players who preordered the game can now play it on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox or use the Game Pass to access it.
While everyone is occupied with their first few matches in the game, the beta is also a great way to find out hidden mechanics, and this is exactly what has happened. According to a few players who have tested out the beta, there is a hidden mechanic involving the aim assist.
Aim Assist in Black Ops 6 Isn’t Exactly Like Other Games
Aim assists have become a common feature in FPS games as they help players ensure that their bullets hit the target in tough situations. This is especially important in consoles, where shooting while amidst a movement is less accurate compared to mouse and keyboard combinations.
If you are someone who is using a controller or gamepad to play the game, there are details that you need to know about the aim assist feature. Apparently, the aim assist doesn’t work at all when engaging in close-range combat.

Whether this is Treyarch’s intention is yet to be confirmed, but it’s certainly going to affect how console players and controller users play the game. Overall, it is going to reduce the accuracy of their damage potential in close-range battles.
This feature also raises the question of whether we will see crossplay in the game in the long run. If aim assist doesn’t work, players using a keyboard and mouse will have an obvious advantage over others. Furthermore, this could seriously impact the ranked queues, leading to an unbalanced environment.
Black Ops 6 Beta Is Here
Though Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releases on October 25, the beta for it has started. This is the first week of beta, which will run from August 30 to September 6. As mentioned before, only players who preordered the game can gain access to it.
It is recommended that players download Call of Duty HQ beforehand, which will allow them to download the game in a low file size. For anyone unaware, Call of Duty HQ is a launcher that provides players with access to all the games in the franchise.
If you miss out on the first week of beta, you can still try it out during the second week, which starts on September 6 and will last till September 9. Keep in mind that not all content will be available during this phase, and we might see some changes depending on the community’s response before the full release.
