The strongest form of Haki in One Piece, Conqueror’s Haki, has been the epitome of the mysterious ability for a long time now. With only one in a million people being born with this unique power, it is one of the rarest techniques, and thus the impact it has on others and on the One Piece narrative is certainly greater than anything else.

As of now, only 22 characters in One Piece (dead and alive) have had the Conqueror’s Haki power, and two of them are Luffy and Zoro. Luffy’s ability to use Conqueror’s Haki was revealed quite a while ago, but Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki was recently revealed during the Wano arc when he was fighting Kaido.

However, there have been multiple debates about Eiichiro Oda foreshadowing Zoro using Conqueror’s Haki way before the Wano arc. While some fans believe it to be true, others are much more inclined towards the idea that his Conqueror’s Haki only awakened during Wano.

Zoro’s Ability To Use Conqueror’s Haki

The concept of Conqueror’s Haki has been very unique since the beginning of One Piece. Its power has been feared by many, and it has been greatly established that without Conqueror’s Haki, the title of Pirate King and the One Piece treasure is unachievable. Thus, Luffy having the power was understandable, but Oda shocked everyone when he gave it to Zoro too.

It was Kaido who pointed out that Zoro had the unique ability when he used Ashura Bakkei: Moja no Tawamure on the former Emperor. As Zoro learned about it, he decided to use it further in the battle, and it became a main component in his fight against King. He imbued his blades with Armament and Conqueror’s Haki to take him down.

Zoro even used the power in the Egghead Island arc, and fans believe that he is only going to enhance it even more. Conqueror’s Haki combined with Zoro’s three swords technique is one of the greatest moments for Zoro and One Piece fans, and they are surely going to get more of it in the coming chapters.

Eiichiro Oda Already Hinted at Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki in Punk Hazard Arc

Eiichiro Oda is always known for foreshadowing some of the greatest mysteries of One Piece and then making a spectacle out of it by introducing them in the best way possible. He did the same with Luffy’s ability to use Conqueror’s Haki, and thus many fans believe that the mangaka foreshadowed Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki during Punk Hazard Arc.

Episode 613 of Punk Hazard Arc shows Zoro taking down Monet in the most unique way possible. The Straw Hat swordsman sliced her from the middle, and the fear of his strength made Monet incapable of getting back together. However, as Zoro was going to launch an attack, Monet got so scared of Zoro that she couldn’t even move.

While this was not an unexpected thing from Zoro, it certainly created a huge discourse among One Piece fans. Many believed that Zoro unintentionally used Conqueror’s Haki to plant fear in the mind of Monet, while others believe that it was just his terrifying gaze that made her stop completely.

There have been many clues presented that fans have used to push their arguments forward. For example, when Zoro was going to attack Monet, the moment looked the same as when Luffy was about to use Jet Bazooka on Mihawk during the Marineford arc. Luffy got a glimpse of what would have happened if he had launched the attack completely.

While the other faction of One Piece fans solely relied on Tashigi’s comment after Zoro sliced Monet, where she exclusively pointed out that Zoro didn’t use Haki to take down Monet at all. Thus, there is no proper way to find out whether Zoro’s Conqueror’s Haki was hinted or not, and only Oda knows the answer to this question.

One Piece is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
