Yusuke Murata is the famed illustrator of One Punch Man, a beloved Shonen series about an overpowered protagonist. The series begins with an average salaryman who decides to become a mighty superhero. After a year of extensive training, Saitama became the most powerful being to exist.

Murata’s illustrations have drawn a lot of attention, especially as fans clamored to know what kind of workout can make a person undefeatable. Little did they know that Murata actually had a bodybuilder as a son.

The bodybuilding season generally begins in February and ends in early October. Several competitions are held within the span of these eight months, and numerous such events are held worldwide. Contenders maintain their best physique in oiled-up bodies to determine who has the most aesthetic muscular build and physique.

While the spotlight is mostly maintained on top bodybuilders, with Mr. Olympia being the biggest and most renowned competition, budding bodybuilders are also taken into account. In Japan’s National High School Bodybuilding Championship, an unlikely talent was discovered.

One of the young talents is none other than Keisuke Murata, the son of Yusuke Murata. He finished second place in the competition with a confident stance while flexing all his muscles. Yusuke Murata himself posted about his son’s achievements on his X account like a proud father. The tweet reads:

My eldest son was the runner-up. Nice fight! [Breaking News] Midsummer Bodybuilding Koshien held in Tokyo. Who was crowned the No. 1 high school bodybuilder and “physiquer”?

His son replied to the post by saying that while it was disappointing to not come first, and he will keep working hard until he reaches his goal.

While Keisuke Murata’s talent and hard work must have moved his family and friends, fans have found the perfect opportunity to bring up One Punch Man‘s Saitama in the context. The fact that Murata Jr. used One Punch Man’s song, The Hero, for his body-building stage performance also did not help his case.

Fans see it as an absolute win that someone (remotely) associated with One Punch Man is an actual bodybuilder. Many people compared him to Saitama, the indomitable protagonist of One Punch Man. Some fans even commented that Yusuke Murata must have leaked Saitama’s training regime to his son so that he could build his body.

For reference, Saitama had decided to train and become stronger after an encounter with a villain. His daily training consisted of 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, and 100 squats, followed by running 10kms every single day. He only ate bananas for breakfast and didn’t use an air conditioner to strengthen his mental resistance. After months of excruciating pain, aches, and vomiting blood, he was finally able to become extremely powerful. Unfortunately, he also lost all his hair due to the training. Keisuke Murata sports a shaved head, which makes fans compare him to Saitama even more.
