The success of Jujutsu Kaisen as an anime series is something that fans are well aware of. In a short span of time, the anime series has reached a spot that other franchises can only dream of. The animation quality, the character depiction, the battle sequences, etc. were some of the greatest aspects of Jujutsu Kaisen anime that fans loved a lot.
However, there was one thing from the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series that became a nightmare for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga fans. This was the second opening of Jujutsu Kaisen anime season 2. Although it was a catchy tune and a decent depiction, it ruined the anime series for manga fans as it foreshadowed multiple spoilers and plotpoints for the entire Shibuya Incident arc.
It has been exactly one year since the opening theme “SPECIALZ” was dropped, and fans are still not over the fact that the series got ruined for them because of this. They still express their opinion about the theme song and how it was one of the greatest openings of all time, but it was also a huge spoiler of the series.
Jujutsu Kaisen’s SPECIALZ Becomes One-Year-Old
August 31, 2024, marked the one-year anniversary of the widely popular Jujutsu Kaisen opening theme “SPECIALZ,” which is composed and performed by King Gnu. The opening theme becomes a part of the series in the second phase of Season 2 of the series, and its captivating tune instantly made it famous.
The opening theme had a dark tone with an inclusion of every major character from the series. The theme also included the antagonists of the series in a red evening background.
However, the most iconic thing was the foreshadowing that was done in the theme by MAPPA Studios.
SPECIALZ was one of the few opening themes of Jujutsu Kaisen that included major details and spoilers about the entire season and how it was going to make an impact on the story. But as anime fans were not aware of the upcoming storyline, they could not guess the mysteries and the spoilers in the opening theme.
Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Fans Are Still Divided About Season 2 Opening Theme
While the opening theme was loved by anime fans for its unforgettable melody, manga fans were a little disappointed in it. The spoilers and plot points that it hinted at in the opening theme ruined the series for them. It gave them the idea of how much narrative of the manga was going to be covered in the series.
Thus, even after one year, fans decided to talk about the opening and how it affected differently to manga and anime fans.
While the anime fans called it the greatest Jujutsu Kaisen theme of all time, manga fans still blamed it for spoiling the fun of the series.
