The Marvel Cinematic Universe began using time travel as early as Captain America: The First Avengers. While Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers was merely frozen in time for decades, the idea established the MCU’s penchant for exploring more fantastical elements. With Doctor Strange and Avengers: Endgame, the concept of time travel was pushed more.

Now, the MCU is at a stage where the multiverse is real and there have been lasting consequences due to time travel. Despite being a dicey concept in the universe, Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings sequel is rumored to have time travel as a core plot point.

According to Marvel Updates, the upcoming Shang-Chi 2 will have the Agents of Atlas appear from different time periods and attack Liu’s character. It is also rumored to have Simu Liu use the Ten Rings to time travel.

A device that helped the heroes of the MCU to time travel was Iron Man’s Time-Space GPS, which was used in Avengers: Endgame. Now, Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings may be more powerful than Iron Man’s brilliant device.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has several artifacts whose powers have been used multiple times by heroes and villains alike. While the Infinity Stones may be its most popular artifact, Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings are not behind as their introduction has led to many speculations. The Rings give many abilities to its users, including strength, agility, and more.

With time travel now rumored to be a power of the Ten Rings, fans have been questioning the exact nature of the rings and how they function. Filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton mentioned back when the first film was released that the team had kept it ambiguous on purpose (via THR),

Yeah, but isn’t that what Marvel always does? There are a lot of things purposefully withheld in the chamber for some exciting things in the future.
