As one of the biggest gaming companies in the market, PlayStation has enabled players to experience some of the most iconic titles in the industry. From 1994 to 2024, gaming on Sony’s consoles has evolved, but fans still like to revisit their old haunts.

But not all of these games have held up and could do with an update. Here are 13 PlayStation remakes that would be much appreciated by gamers!

13. Resistance: Fall of Man

As a title that helped launch the PlayStation 3, Resistance: Fall of Man is a game many might have played and forgotten. While Insomniac Games is currently busy bringing your unfriendly backwoods Wolverine to gaming consoles, reviving this series could be a great way to jog some memories.

The game itself is a solid first-person shooter experience with fun gameplay and a decent, cohesive story. It’s the first part of a trilogy and could be the kindling needed to reignite interest in the franchise.

12. Twisted Metal

When gamers think of early weapon-based racing titles, many might gravitate towards Crash Team Racing. But Twisted Metal came out before the rodent’s racing adventures and did it in a completely different way!

The game’s focus was more on vehicular combat than beating opponents in a race. Players could equip their vehicles with an array of weapons to beat their opponents, and bringing this title to modernity with online play could be the perfect formula for success.

Few games bring about the same unbridled satisfaction as a beat ’em up where that requires little thought. God Hand, from the mind of Shinji Mikami, is one such title and would be a perfect candidate for a remake.

The odd setting, zany powers, and hilarious button-mashing sequences have made this title a nostalgic favorite for many. With no direct sequel, this standalone, linear, and simple title could be just what modern gaming needs.

10. inFAMOUS

This is one of those PlayStation games that is widely regarded as one of the best original superhero games on the market. inFAMOUS: Second Son and its stand-alone DLC First Light are available on the PS5, but the original two games in the franchise have a much better story.

Few titles allow you to wield electric powers and also experience a touching story. Sucker Punch may be working on a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, but they should revisit this classic and listen to the constant requests for it to receive a remake.

9. Manhunt

This title could be Rockstar’s most gruesome and violent entry into gaming to date. You play as a death-row convict who is forced to take part in a series of snuff films, with gangs of psychopaths coming to take you out.

Stealth and action are both essential elements in this game, and modern technology could really up the ante on all the brutality we witness. Maybe once the next Grand Theft Auto is out, the studio could look at bringing back this gem.

8. Shadow of the Colossus

Team Ico’s second title, Shadow of the Colossus, quickly grew in popularity to become a cult-classic release on the PS2. The game has been remastered for the PS4, but a ground-up remake would allow us to truly appreciate the beauty of this title.

On Wander’s quest to bring his beloved back to life, we will have to take down several giant creatures roaming the lands. However, not everything is as it seems, and the quest ends with a surprising twist that could make you question every action you have taken through the experience.

7. Bully

Another Rockstar entry that gained massive appeal, Bully is a fan favorite for many gamers. Determined to make a name for himself at his boarding school, Jimmy Hopkins tasks on several pranks and tasks that are very entertaining to pull off as the player.

Despite being set inside of a school, Rockstar’s experience in creating open-world, mission-based titles shines through in this game as well. With some graphical enhancements and quality-of-life changes, Bully could become as big as any GTA title.

6. Sly Raccoon

Another Sucker Punch entry, Sly Raccoon, was the studio’s first release on a Sony console. The first part of the original trilogy is now available on PlayStation Plus, but it is merely an upscaled version of the 2002 release.

A ground-up remake of the game, or all three, is something that has been heavily discussed in the community. Neither Sony nor Sucker Punch have expressed any interest in such a project, but both companies would be pleasantly surprised at the reception of such an announcement.

5. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver

Any conversation about remaking or remastering old games is incomplete without mention of Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. The title has a special place in the hearts of many gamers, who are all eager to once again play as Raziel on his quest for revenge.

Crystal Dynamics’ action-adventure title also implemented some unique mechanics, such as switching between realms to complete certain levels. Some modern games have also utilized the same, and a remake can take advantage of all the advancements made in technology to enhance the experience.

4. Dino Crisis

The Resident Evil remakes have performed very well in the market, leading to many demands for another Shinji Mikami title to get the same treatment. While the creator may not feel such a project has much scope, the community begs to differ.

The game was one of the first to effectively use dinosaurs to terrify the player and has also spawned three sequels. The game even topped the survey of requested Capcom remakes, so there is very much a potential market for the survival-horror experience.

3. Tenchu 3: Wrath of Heaven

One of the most iconic games in the stealth-action genre, Tenchu allowed players to control ninjas like no other game had previously. Many wished that the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows would take some cues from this classic title.

Wrath of Heaven is the third installment in the franchise but is widely regarded as the best entry. The ability to choose between two characters and a wide array of tools and skills allows the player to live out their ninja master dreams on screen.

2. God of War

Rebooting the series has brought it many new fans, but they are not entirely aware of Kratos during his younger years. A remake of the original trilogy would be the perfect way to not only allow players to experience the games but also show the character’s growth over the years.

Remaking the first one would allow many people to experience the inciting events that led Kratos to become the god killer we know him as today. The title also featured solid gameplay with a wide array of weapons and enemies, making it a prime candidate for a remake.

1. Bloodborne

It’s been one of the most requested titles for either a remake, a remake, or a sequel ever since its release. FromSoftware’s Gothic love letter to Lovecraft is one of those games that stick with you years after you complete the game.

As players hack and slash their way through nightmares, beasts, and bosses, they discover that the cause for the events in the game goes far beyond natural causes. While the game has fans working on it to bring it to the PC, a remake might be more important than even a sequel to many!
