With its recent release on Netflix, Terminator Zero has become the talk of the town. The series had a colossal responsibility of doing justice to the legacy of the Terminator franchise, and it seems to be doing quite well on that front. It’s a great blend of horror, action, and sci-fi. The last time this combination was seen in the Terminator series was in the original Terminator movie (1984). Since then, the franchise has become more action-oriented.

This is also the reason why Terminator Zero has surpassed the Terminator Franchise, and currently stands at the second position, only behind the original movie.

Terminator Zero is set in the Terminator universe but with a new cast. Most fans were on the fence regarding their expectations for the show, whether to be excited or to be prepared for another disaster. Doing the former would have been the right choice as the show has beaten the Terminator sequels in terms of ratings. The James Cameron classic maintains the top position with a 100% rating, rightfully so, but the rest of the franchise has been surpassed.

Terminator Zero has garnered a lot of attention and now stands at the second position with a rating of 92%. Initially, it was Certified Fresh at 96%. Terminator 2: Judgment Day has a rating of 91% at present. This achievement is quite huge as the makers have dethroned James Cameron himself by surpassing Judgement Day

Fans have their gripes with the series but there’s undeniably a lot of good in it that’s getting appreciated. Terminator Zero is the perfect blend of what fans love about the series and a new vision. It seems like Masashi Kudo and Mattson Tomlin were clear about what they were doing and it turned out to be the best way forward. They didn’t remake the original Terminator, but rather preserved the essence and served it with a new storyline.

They’ve paid homage to the James Cameron classic with certain scenes, and added their own elements in the mix. This works in their favor as it opens up the series to new fans while giving a nod to the pre-existing Terminator fans. Some fans are loving the series and are already hoping for a sequel.

Additionally, there are twists throughout the series that keep the fans hooked. Terminator Zero is not perfect and it has some flaws, but the effort that has been put to bring back the original essence is commendable.

Terminator Zero is available to stream on Netflix.
