Sylvester Stallone may be one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood, but even though he’s got a lot of successful blockbuster films out there, he’s also had his fair share of flopped projects. Not only did these films tank at the box office but they were also critically slammed.

It’s not easy to determine what kind of films make great profits because people’s preferences and global trends change. However, some of Stallone’s most loathed works were projects he did not carefully choose, or those where his vision was not followed.

Sylvester Stallone Shares Movies He Awfully Regrets

One of Sylvester Stallone’s most awfully unforgettable movies was 1992’s Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot. He did this alongside Hollywood rival Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was the mastermind in encouraging Stallone to take on the project. The former professional bodybuilder told the audience at Beyond Fest 2017 via SlashFilm:

I’ve also done some movies that went right in the toilet, right? That was bad. But this was really bad. So I went in — this was during our war — I said to myself, ‘I’m going to leak out that I have tremendous interest.’ I know the way it works in Hollywood. I would then ask for a lot of money.”

The movie was a huge flop, and similarly, Stallone was devastated to know he had been set up for failure. Apart from this, he also expressed disappointment in the 1984 comedy musical film Rhinestone. He shared via Ain’t It Cool News:

I wanted the music at that time to be written by people who would give it sort of a bizarre edge… But, I was asked to come down to Fox and out steps the director, Bob Clark. Bob is a nice guy, but the film went in a direction that literally shattered my internal corn meter into smithereens.”

Above all, he hated how he mishandled the Judge Dredd franchise. He revealed at a press conference in 2008 via Den of Geek:

The biggest mistake I ever made was with the sloppy handling of Judge Dredd. It could have been a fantastic, nihilistic, interesting vision of the future – judge, jury, and executioner. That [film] really bothered me a great deal.”

These are only some of Stallone’s least favorite movies. He also did not like 1991’s Oscar, 2000’s Get Carter, 2001’s Driven, and 2002’s D-Tox, as mentioned by a post from We Got This Covered.

Which Sylvester Stallone Movie Could Have Been Better?

Stallone made his name in the action movie genre when he starred in the Rocky films and created The Expendables. Surely, these two franchises propelled his career and cemented his legacy as an actor.

Looking back, Judge Dredd had the most potential to thrive only if it was properly released and advertised accordingly. At a time when the market was not yet oversaturated with comic book movies but was already gaining momentum, it could have found its success.

Similarly, Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot could be a fun watch for the sake of laughs. It was insufferable, and Stallone hated it so bad, though the behind-the-scenes of how he got the part was even more interesting than the movie itself.
