Much to the delight of Marvel fans, X-Men star Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his iconic role as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film, Deadpool 3. Jackman’s remarkable contribution to the franchise is truly commendable, spanning nearly two decades since he first portrayed Wolverine.

Despite his extensive involvement in the X-Men universe, it’s intriguing to note that his personal favorite movies belong to the rival DCU. During a recent interview, the actor revealed that there are two films that he holds in high regard, and interestingly, they both hail from the DCU.

Hugh Jackman’s Favorite Films Cross Franchise Boundaries

Hugh Jackman made his debut in the X-Men Universe with his 2000’s film X-Men. The actor was seen portraying the role of the renowned comic character Wolverine. Following his debut, Jackman continued to portray the character for 17 years, with his final appearance as Wolverine in the 2017 film Logan.

The actor’s portrayal of Wolverine was so good that it’s indeed hard to imagine anyone else playing the role. And to much delight, the actor is soon going to reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3 alongside Ryan Reynolds.

Considering Jackman’s extensive journey within the Marvel franchise and his unwavering dedication to it, one might easily assume that he holds a deep affection for the franchise. However, surprisingly, this assumption isn’t true, as when it comes to superhero films, it’s actually the DCU that has captured and won his heart.

Recently, during an interview with Variety, the actor shared about his favorite film and claimed that his favorite one is Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight and Richard Donner’s Superman. The actor said

 “My favorite superhero movie. Growing up, the first Superman. That was a game-changer. Dick Donner movie, Christopher Reeve. I’m gonna say, I’m thinking one of the Nolan Batmans. I’m gonna go Dark Knight” 

With Jackman’s statement, one thing is sure that despite his iconic role as Wolverine in the X-Men films, his personal favorites lie in the realm of DC superheroes.

After a long wait, Hugh Jackman will finally reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming Marvel movie Deadpool 3. However, Wolverine fans were concerned that the return of the character might affect the Logan timeline, as, in the last X-Men film, Logan, the character had a definitive ending.

But the whole chaos has been handled as the producer of the film, Ryan Reynolds and Jackman have promised that the third installment of the film won’t mess with the ending of the 2017 film. 

Deadpool 3 is scheduled to be released on September 6th, 2024.
