Hugh Jackman is known globally for playing Wolverine and sporting a buff body for that. He has played the clawed and flawed character for more than 15 years and he is returning in Deadpool 3 to reprise his role. The actor is training hard to get in shape and comic book fans have admired his dedication to giving it his all even at 54 years of age. However, there’s one person who hates his six-pack-laden physique and wants her husband to become fat and flabby- his wife Deborah Lee Furness.

However, Furness also appreciates the perks of dating an actor who always has to stay in shape for his superhero role. During an interview with LA Times Jackman revealed that his wife jokingly told him:

“The best thing about being married to an actor is that I get to have an affair every few months.”

The fluctuating body shape Jackman has to adapt to for every role he does makes him look like a different person every time. But what motivates Jackman to stay in shape all the time? As per the actor:

It’s a different kind of look all the time. But I’ve got to be honest, mate, being in a 3-D film on a 40-foot screen is pretty good motivation for being in shape.”

The actor frequently posts his workouts on his social media handles and he has inspired many to shed their fat and flab to become like the Wolverine.

During an interview on HBO Max’s Who’s Talking To Chris Wallace show, Hugh Jackman revealed his training plans to become Wolverine again in Deadpool 3. He said:

“I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time. So we have six months from when I finish [The Music Man] to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months.”

During an interview with LA Times, Jackman revealed it is hard trying to get back in shape rather than staying in shape. He also revealed his training regimen for The Wolverine (2013) and said:

“It’s too hard to get in shape from scratch, and it’s easier to stay in shape than to get in shape. … For Wolverine I really up the training. Right now I do about an hour of training a day and ride my bike everywhere. But I do about 2 1/2 hours of training a day when getting ready for the role, and foodwise I eat more, but I eat a lot stricter. Seventy percent of your physique is your diet, and diet is the biggest change that happens.”

He further elaborated on his training and described the exercises he does to become Logan. As per Jackman:

“I do heavy weights in the morning for about an hour, and then I do 45 minutes of higher-volume lifting in the afternoon. My least favorite is the legs. … I do quite a few chin-ups and rows. I do mostly old-school lifting with a lot of squats. I actually do more front squats than I do back squats, and I do a lot of deadlifting. If I could only do one exercise, it would be deadlifting. For cardio, I dance, I ride my bike, I run and I have kids. There is a … lot of cardio just from being a parent.”

Jackman’s hard work will pay off when he will square off against Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in Deadpool 3.
