Jennifer Lawrence has won numerous awards since she starred as Katniss Everdeen in the first The Hunger Games film. However, something she revealed in 2023 showed that this could have turned out differently.

In an interview on The Rewatchables podcast, the actress mentioned that before she even thought about joining the adventure franchise, she had already given it a shot with another huge hit at the time: Twilight (via Variety).

I auditioned for ‘Twilight’. They turned me down immediately. I didn’t even get a callback. But my life would’ve been totally different. I got ‘Hunger Games’ I think, like, a year later.

Lawrence reportedly auditioned for the role of Bella Swan, but even though she didn’t get it, she mentioned that she would have been unhappy if she had. She saw how intense Twilight fans were, with Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner being constantly in the tabloids at the time. She said that kind of total exposure wasn’t something she wanted.

The consequences of starring in The Hunger Games were different for her compared to her colleagues, but even before that, she considered the option of not doing a franchise. The actress was worried about being remembered for just one character, so she also sought out other projects that didn’t have sequels.

The idea of Lawrence being in Twilight is pretty fascinating, especially because of how she’d have teamed up with Robert Pattinson. But now it looks like this could actually happen, and fans might finally get to see that dynamic for real.

Die, My Love is based on the novel of the same name written by Ariana Harwicz, and is set in a remote forgotten rural area, where the story follows a mother who struggles to maintain her sanity as she battles with psychosis. Other themes like motherhood, femininity, and the mundane aspects of love will also be explored.

Jennifer Lawrence has already been confirmed for the lead role, with Robert Pattinson still in negotiations to star alongside her. The full cast has not yet been announced (via Deadline).
