The upcoming film features par excellence star performer Cillian Murphy as the American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer the “father of the atomic bomb.” This film will mark the sixth collaboration between Nolan and Murphy. Earlier in April, the director showed exclusive clips of Oppenheimer at CinemaCon and opened up about his decision to work on this project and what drew him to make a movie about the theoretical physicist.

He stated:

“Like it or not, J. Robert Oppenheimer is the most important person who ever lived. He made the world we live in — for better or for worse. And his story has to be seen to be believed, and I am certainly hopeful audiences will come to your theaters to see it on the biggest screens possible.”

The supporting cast of Oppenheimer includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Josh Hartnett, and Kenneth Branagh.
