Horror movies, in general, have been recreating the same narratives with the same supernatural beings doing the same supernatural things and being defeated by the same supernatural ways. But in 2018, A Quiet Place arrived to change the landscape and create an identity for itself, which has led to a massive success story, turning it into a beloved franchise.

This sci-fi horror series brought a much-needed change of pace in the current line-up of horror movies in the industry, which has led to the creation of the origin story of the first film. But despite the trailer for A Quiet Place: Day One seems to have charmed the fans, it also shows us the excessive use of CGI in a film loved for the human aspect, something that also lacking in the last films of other iconic trilogies.

One of the unique things that made John Krasinski‘s A Quiet Place so different from the other big-budget horror flicks we are used to seeing in recent years is the horror aspect related to human beings more than jumpscares and harbingers of terror. Despite being a sci-fi film with aliens in it, we rarely see these creatures for long, just enough to raise the tension and make us hear our heartbeats.

And now, with two successful films under their belt, the franchise is set to take us all back in time to when it all began. Since the release of the trailer for A Quite Place: Day One, people have been going nuts for the film to finally hit theatres. However, a select few have pointed out that the familiar human aspect of the film may not be present in this movie.

As we can see in the trailer, there seems to be a lack of exclusionary tension and fear that made the first two films raise our hair with fright and dreaded anticipation of something lurking out of sight. Instead, we have large setpieces that put everything on open display for the people to enjoy the visual aspect of the production.

These were the same attributes that we have seen in many iconic trilogies before. Most notable of them all are The Dark Knight and the X-Men series. Both of them started by focusing on character development and exploration, but in the end, they turned into visual spectacles that somewhat lessened their appeal in the eyes of the fans.

We still do not know what Djimon Hounsou‘s character will bring to the picture, which is the reason why the fans are so desperate for the film to be released and find out.
