I think what we came up with is a story that feels MCU-worthy in its themes, in its stakes, but is doing it in a way that is true to Deadpool’s tone, that is character-centric, character-anchored. Even the things we’re exploring are big feelings, big themes, big stakes.

What many don’t know is that Ryan Reynolds isn’t just acting in this movie, he’s also the mastermind behind the story. When Kevin Feige hesitated about bringing Deadpool into the mix, Reynolds stepped up.
It was a tough call for the studio, especially after wrapping up the grand Infinity Saga with Avengers: Endgame. Feige has also acknowledged Reynolds’ brilliance, revealing that he pitched nearly 25 ideas for the movie, while talking to Empire Magazine. Ryan Reynolds tirelessly worked day and night to bring this project to fruition, and now that it’s finally on its way, fans can hardly contain their excitement.
