The Boys recently aired the Season 4 finale episode, and fans have a lot to say. This has been one of the slowest seasons of the show since it premiered back in 2019. But there is yet another criticism the season has faced a lot. One that you would not connect to a show like The Boys.

The writing of the season has not been on par with the previous ones. As the show is coming to an end after the next season, which will be its 5th and final, fans cannot help but wonder if the showrunners and the writers are trying to fastrack the storyline to come to an end. This is one criticism that has been faced by another very popular show – Taylor Sheridan created Yellowstone.

Yellowstone and The Boys Face Similar Criticism For Their Writing

Yellowstone, created by Taylor Sheridan, is coming to an end after its current season. The show has already premiered four and a half seasons and fans cannot help but notice that the writing has declined over time. The show is currently filming the second part of the fifth season, which will be its last. But critics are already saying how the fifth season, or at least the first half of it, has not been consistent with its previous seasons.

The Boys has been facing similar criticism this season. And the season finale has not helped in any way. After three bombastic seasons, especially after knowing that the next season would be its last, this felt more like a filler than an actual season. Fans have been blaming the writing and they are probably right. After so many amazing episodes in the last three seasons, fans have gotten used to The Boys always bringing out their best. Unfortunately, it was not the case this time, and a death in the Season 4 finale proves the same.

A Death In The Boys Season 4 Finale Did Not Sit Well With Fans

The Boys and the idea of death, pretty much go hand in hand. If it’s not some unsuspecting poor fellow dying because of the supes, it is a supe him or herself getting killed by one of their own or one of The Boys. And in the Season 4 finale, the death of Claudia Doumit, who plays Victoria Neuman, a Congresswoman with superpowers working for Vought, came as a shock to many.

Doumit’s Neuman has become a fan-favorite character over the years, and her sudden death did not sit well with many fans. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), many blamed poor writing as the reason behind such a terrible ending to a character with so much potential.

While some of the fans did come to the defense of The Boys, most were unhappy with the recent happenings, and the writing that felt subpar at best this season. But given the show is inching towards its end, hopefully, the upcoming season – the fifth and final one – will be heaps better than the current one. So far, all four seasons of The Boys are available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
