Singer-songwriter and author Kelly Clarkson has grabbed headlines as the pop star was involved in a legal battle with her former husband and manager Brandon Blackstock. Clarkson alleges that Blackstock made some rude comments on her physique.
Clarkson has a glorious career under her belt. The singer rose to fame after winning the first season of American Idol in 2002 and she went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album twice. The singer has also been a prominent TV personality adding more accolades.
Kelly Clarkson Laments He Ex-husband’s Comment
Kelly Clarkson recalled rude comments from her former husband Brandon Blackstock as he allegedly said that the Breakaway singer was not s*xually appealing to be featured in NBC’s singing reality competition television series, The Voice.
As per The New York Post, the 41-year-old made the claim last year before a California labor commissioner. The commissioner ruled in her favor as Clarkson’s former husband was ordered to pay her $2.6 million for unlawfully procuring deals as her manager, which as per the ruling, should have been handled by her talent agents. Blackstock failed to appeal the ruling.
Further, Clarkson testified that he had always wanted to be on the NBC show The Voice, however, Blackstock allegedly had a negative approach to that. The singer claimed that the network executives were looking for a more “s*x symbol type” similar to pop icon Rihanna. “A wife doesn’t forget a time she gets told she’s not a sex symbol, so that stays,” Clarkson said in the testimony. The former couple was separated in March 2022, they share two kids, River Rose and Remington “Remy” Alexander.
Kelly Clarkson Explained Dropping Weight
The Kelly Clarkson Show host felt like being reborn after a tough few years in Los Angeles. “I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” she told People. As she moved to New York City, the singer found a fresh start “We go walk the dogs a few times at the park. We’ll go for ice cream because my daughter will wear me down. We’ll go make slime and we go to the museum,” she added. The single mom also went on to explain how she dropped weight. “Walking in the city is quite the workout,” Clarkson said.
“And I’m really into infrared saunas right now. And I just got a cold plunge because everybody wore me down. I eat a healthy mix. I dropped weight because I’ve been listening to my doctor — a couple years I didn’t. And 90 percent of the time I’m really good at it because a protein diet is good for me anyway. I’m a Texas girl, so I like meat — sorry, vegetarians in the world!”
New York City has made Clarkson feel more free-spirited, the singer further revealed that now she is more focused on her work— primarily NBC’s The Kelly Clarkson Show. As the chat show is being premiered, she said, she has enjoyed every minute of it for the first time.
