Considering that DCU will comprise its own Batman in the future, fans have been theorizing about the new Dark Knight. With many fans believing that a pre-established Batman actor from the previous movies may return as the definitive Batman for the DCU, The Suicide Squad director has cleared some air by debunking these rumors.
James Gunn debunks the rumor of George Clooney returning as DCU’s Batman
Since the revelation of DCU comprising its version of Batman while leaving Matt Reeves’ The Batman as a separate entity, there have been several speculations circulating over the internet about the new Dark Knight. And considering that the new Batman will have its own Robin, fans have been theorizing about the return of an experienced Batman from previous DC movies, including George Clooney’s version of the Caped Crusader.
With time, the theory was garnering more heat, as fans were assured that Batman and Robin’s version of the character may get his time to shine in the new DCU. But recently, the DC Boss James Gunn has debunked the rumors of Clooney returning as the caped crusader by responding to a fan’s tweet.

Michael Keaton is set to feature in the upcoming movie The Flash, which will reset the universe and his future as Gotham’s vigilante. But apart from Michael Keaton, it appears that no pre-established Batman actor will be donning the cape of the Dark Knight in James Gunn-led DCU.
James Gunn confirms that DCU’s Batman will comprise a new actor
Fans are piling up theories about different actors that could take the mantle of DCU’s Batman, including the previous Bruce Wayne actors like Ben Affleck, George Clooney, and even Christian Bale. But James Gunn has finally cleared the air surrounding his vision for the Dark Knight, as he confirms that the upcoming The Brave and the Bold will introduce a fresh and new actor as Batman.

Following his plan for Superman, which will also comprise a new actor at its forefront, it’s reasonable to assume that James Gunn’s DCU may not have any ties with the previous DC movies. And with The Flash erasing the previously scattered universe, James Gunn can build his version of the world’s finest from scratch.
Although no new information about the new Batman adaptation has been made public, it has been revealed that the movie will follow in the line of Grant Morrison’s famous comic book run The Brave and the Bold. And considering that it will introduce Batman’s son Damien Wayne as Robin, it’s reasonable to assume that we will have a seasoned and more experienced Batman in the DCU.
