It may come as a surprise to you, but time and again, dhoti has been part of Indian fashion. Numerous celebrities have adorned themselves with dhoti outfits and made quite a statement. So much for the charm that even the executives at Marvel Comics were impressed by the clothing. For a short period from 2004-2005, a series of Spider-Man comic books were released that had a dhoti-clad, jutti-wearing spiderman. The Indian Spiderman was conceptualized by popular filmmaker Satyajit Ray when he met Stan Lee once in New York.
