The Oscar-winning Hollywood actor, Adrien Brody has always been praised for his dedication and work ethic. He won the Academy Award for his role as Władysław Szpilman in The Pianist back in 2003 when he was just twenty-nine. It’s of no surprise that the 50-year-old actor takes his role seriously and can go up to any extent to make it look the best on big screens.

Adrien Brody’s quest for perfection made him do something that was very unusual yet impactful for his film The Jacket. What Adrien Brody’s The Jacket Is All About

Directed by John Maybury, The Jacket is a Psychothriller that is all about going through an experiment that makes the film more Eerie and “R” rated. The 50-year-old actor played the role of a shell-shocked war veteran who comes back to his country from the Gulf and encounters a murder while hitchhiking. While being on the crime scene he gets arrested and then he gets brought into a mental hospital where various kinds of experiments start taking place on him.

Jack Stars A.K.A Adrien Brody undergoes a controversial experiment where he gets put in a straight jacket and then injected with different drugs. Once the things are done, he gets shoved into the morgue drawer on the name of sensory deprivation theory.

Even though Jack Stars was admitted to the mental hospital in the year 1992, he woke up in the year 2007 and couldn’t understand a single bit of it. He meets a woman named Jackie which is Keira Knightley, and it seems familiar to him but soon all things get jumbled up when he introduces himself to the woman. The woman shows the war veteran that news was there back in 1992 that Jack Stars is dead and how come he is still alive. The film The Jacket takes the audience back and forth between the timeline of 1992 to 2007 yet it gets mixed reviews from the critics.

Why Did Adrien Brody Choose To Stay In A Morgue Drawer For A Scene In The Film

The 50-year-old star doesn’t leave any stone unturned when it comes to hard work and professionalism so shooting for The Jacket wasn’t any exception. The Pianist actor was eager to clutch on with the experiments that are shown in the film. The actor even asked the crew members to shove him in one of the morgue drawers before they got ready to roll and even stayed sometimes after the camera stopped rolling. This isn’t all he even locked himself in a straight jacket for long hours to get into the psyche Jack Stark should have in the film, went for isolation tank sessions, and for a protein diet to gear up for the film.

In an interview with Hollywood.com the 50-year-old actor was asked how tough was filming this and whether was he really in a morgue drawer for the film he replied.

“We shot in a mental institution. They built this in the basement. And it had that vibe. It had the energy, somehow, of that. We were using real gurneys and they were all covered with medical instruments that were frightening. The crew was nice, but the state of mind I was in, I don’t even try to communicate with anyone. I was restrained in the jacket and I asked to be left alone on the gurney and wait while they set up the next shot instead of getting me out of it and sitting around and having a conversation, I think that’s not conducive to staying in that state of mind. I think it’s just important to stay centered and therefore it doesn’t matter where it is or what it is we’re shooting, I would still be in my own space. So I kind of am oblivious to what’s going on for the most part, while I’m filming. When I’m done, it’s cool, it’s like, ‘Good night, everyone.’”

This isn’t the only time when some actor as serious as Adrien Brody went beyond limits to fulfill a role’s need. There have been other actors too and one among them is Jared Leto who met too many transgenders’ people for his role in Dallas Buyers Club and didn’t want to break his role at any cost.
