X-Men: Days of Future Past is a well-known 2014 superhero film, which acts as the fifth mainstream installment to the X-Men film series. The film revolves around the journey of Logan, played by Hugh Jackman, who travels in the past and tries to alter it, for a better world. The present time in the film is a dystopian world where specially designed robots are trying to hunt down all the living mutants. The film was the highest-grossing film in the overall series until it was surpassed by Deadpool. Yet the film received major criticism for its depiction of the story and dystopian world.
X-Men: Days of Future Past Negative response
X-Men: Days of Future Past, despite performing well at the box office, failed to satisfy the viewers. At least at the time of its release. The movie was criticized for its fast-paced story and depiction of characters. Many believed that the story was incongruent with previous storylines. Kitty Pryde, who simply had the powers to pass through the wall and make things intangible, was shown sending Logan’s consciousness in the past without any proper explanation. There were many who believed that Jennifer Lawrence’s character Mystique didn’t enjoy the time and attention she deserved either. Mystique had an important role in the movie, as the Sentinels (the killer robots) were made with her powers.
The critics also targeted Hugh Jackman’s role, as many fans believed that Wolverine was justified much better in the past films which included the Wolverine trilogy. The movie did try to merge all the past films, but at that time many believed it was a complete failure.
The True Worth Of X-Men: Days of Future Past
X-Men: Days of Future Past surely received a major backlash, but looking at the past, many believe that the movie is a true gem. The movie evidently tried its best to merge all the storylines. Comparing it with the recently released X-Men movies, one can easily realize the true worth of the movie. Despite being engaged in the two timelines, the movie justified each of them pretty well. Fans too seem to have realized this fact.

Love the portrayal of answering the question “if someone went back in time and changed the past, would you even remember it?” I think the ending of this movie is awesome

The Rogue Cut is the version of the movie that I prefer, personally. Rogue is a very big part of the first movie, which makes her subplot even more entertaining. The additions are great and actually improve many aspects of the movie. pic.twitter.com/hU3WI3GpxC

It looks like the movie is receiving its deserved praise after years of its release. The praise may have been delayed, but has finally managed to break through the criticism of the movie. Fans though are still looking forward to watching more good installments of the series.
